Buy another mouse. December 9, 2007 Jason P. Gold (Huntington Beach, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for $13 at Big Lots, the company formerly known as Pic & Save. Unlike the previous reviewer, mine stays shut with the batteries in it. However, I'm not impressed with the unit. The receiver/dongle which plugs into the USB port is silver, so it matches my laptop, but it is large, which interferes with putting anything into the directly adjacent USB port on my laptop. The dongle has a green light which flashes when you move the mouse. Some might consider the light to be very cool. To each his own. The problem I have with the mouse is that it jumps on the wrong surface. I tried using it on a wood table and it did a horrible job of controlling the cursor. (It works better on the wood desk at the office.) I pulled out an orange manilla folder to use as a mousepad, and the mouse works much better. The unit has a nice rubber grip around the edge, making it easy to lift and move the unit. Ergonomics are acceptable. The unit is a bit heavy for a portable mouse, and the mouse buttons are a bit stiff. The scroll wheel works well and can act as a third button, clicking on and off a fast scroll feature. (Nice feature for a cheap mouse.) Finally, Microsoft and Logitech both make wireless moble mice that let you store the dongle on the mouse. The m/s mouse shuts off the mouse when the dongle is stored, saving battery power. I assume the Logitech does this as well. The Gear Head mouse does not. Conclusion: It works in a pinch. I suggest spending a bit more money.
Good Value if less than $15 January 11, 2008 D. Simon (Motown, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I, like another reviewer, got mine at Big Lots for $13. But, mine has been perfect. It works on ALL, I mean ALL surfaces. It amazes me because it works on high pile carpet, microfiber couch arm, skin, etc. I've had absolutely no problems with mine except that the logo is wearing off because of how much we use it. The USB dongle is on the large size but not bigger than a small USB jump drive. The size of the unit is great and fits in small hands. If you have large hands you won't like this. My 3yr old daughter can use this mouse without problems. I really like the "squishy" sides which make gripping the mouse very comfortable. Remember most people post on the internet when they have bad experiences with things. I ran across this because I was going to order a 2nd one but it's still cheaper at Big Lots. I wasn't going to write a review until I saw how bad of reviews this was getting. It really is a great product that is priced correctly on Amazon or at Big Lots. It's a better mouse than my wireless mouse that came with my $100 Wireless Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse combo. edit: I forgot to mention that the mouse does have an auto shutoff mode which is pretty good. It shuts off with about 1-2 minutes of inactivity. I find this very effective at saving the batteries. Also, this mouse really isn't heavy. The only reason it seems heavy is because of the two batteries it takes. The bottom line is it's not heavier than the 2 other wireless mice I have at work and at home.

Quite possibly the worst computer peripheral I have ever purchased, and I have bought worthless stuff before. Spend an extra $2 and get something that will shut when you put batteries in it.
Super profile product March 6, 2008 K. Prabhu (Indianapolis, IN USA) Too good looks. Nice rubber grips (ribs) on sides. Nice snap fit for attaching cables....damn good stuff!!!
Don't buy it.. March 27, 2008 Bryon Adkins (OH USA) I got this mouse for Christmas, the design looks nice and the grips feel good but it took a lot of frustration to figure out why it wasn't working. The battery compartment doesn't close all the way, you have to keep pushing it and hope it stays or else the mouse dies. Also, after about 2 months of use, the middle scroll button screwed up. It scrolls by itself randomly and if you try to use it, it just goes nuts. I switched it back to my old dell ball mouse, at least my old mouse works :/
