Product Description Have it all with the HP LaserJet P1006 Printer. Print bold, crisp text and sharper images with HP spherical toner and a redesigned cartridge for intelligent performance. The spherical toner is engineered for more efficient inkflow, which helps create a smaller print cartridge, and HP's smallest laser printer. Because sound can be as intrusive as size, the printer is specially designed for exceptionally quiet operation. It is virtually noise-free. HP's Instant-on Technology means your first page will print in less time than any other comparable printer, even earlier HP models. With up to 17 pages per minute text print speed, 8MB internal memory, and manual 2-side print capability, this monochrome LaserJet P1006 from HP is a perfect partner for you and your PC or Macintosh at home or at your small office. Recommended monthly volume - 250 to 1,500 pages / Maximum monthly duty cycle - Up to 5,000 pages Input 150-sheet adjustable main tray, 10-sheet priority input tray (also accepts envelopes) / Output 100-sheet output bin Maximum Paper Weight - 16 to 43 pounds bond Operating Systems - Windows 2000, XP Home, XP Professional, XP Professional x64, Windows Server 2003 (32/64 bit), Windows Vista, Mac OS X v10.2.8, v10.3, v10.4 and higher Dimensions - Width 13.66 x Depth 8.82 x Height 7.64 (347x224x194mm) Weight - 10.3 pounds (4.7 kg) without print cartridge

Small, good quality, not Mac/MS Office Compatible January 3, 2008 N. E. Kruser (Binghamton, NY) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
We purchased three of these for my office. The size is perfect for a user's desk, very small. The print quality is decent. The only real problem with the P1006 is that they are unable to print from MS Office on an Intel-based Mac. HP tech-support told me this is a known issue that can be resolved by updating to MS Office 2008 for Mac when it comes out.
HP should be ashamed April 8, 2008 J. A. Cencioso (Flagstaff, AZ USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This printer shares a similar footprint with the Laserjet 1012 and 1022. Do not be fooled! It only has a half size (relative to the others with its form factor) toner cartridge, which costs exactly the same (effectively doubling your cost per page). There are issues where the printer will not print from Microsoft Office on the Mac (but those are are driver issues which will be eventually resolved). I hate feeling cheated, and I am very displeased that HP discontinued the other (full-size toner) printer line without telling the consumer they were getting only half as much for effectively the same price. Find a Laserjet 1012 or a 1022, if you still can, and let HP know that selling half as much value, in a full value size package, for a full value size price is not acceptable.
Great for home use July 24, 2008 Solar-Powered (Tennessee) This printer delivers great copies - I was amazed at the quality! It is not meant for heavy office use, but does just great for home. The price is so good for what you get, I consider it a true bargain. I am immensely pleased with this product and have no complaints. If you're looking for a heavy-use, lightening fast printer, look elsewhere; if you're looking for a great b&w printer for home at a good price, this is it!
