Easiest way to describe this card is "A Monster!". I tossed on Crysis and went from low settings on my 7800GT to high settings on 2nd highest resolution (on my 24" monitor) - no AA. I haven't tried 1920x1200 but I'm doubtful since Crysis is such a resource hog. I cranked HL2:E2 all the way up with AA and all. I can't even being to tell you how long this card is compared to cards in 7 series. I would say 3 inches longer than the 7800GT and much thicker. But the dual slot is worth it - since it helps vent all the heat out. From everything I've read, these cards are very easy to OC and they do it well. One last thing, if your board is PCI-E 1.0 - the card still works. I wouldn't say the card is future proof but it's ready for the new boards with PCI-E 2.0. So again - don't think twice about upgrading. If you need a new card and you got the cash - this is a great card! If you're thinking of upgrading from a 7 series - I wouldn't think twice. If you're at a 8800GTS-G92 then it might be worth the wait until the next series (check Tom's Hardware for more info).
Very Good card May 18, 2008 Arkan (Sharq,Kuwait) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My system Quad Core 6600,4gb ram ,Power supply:550 watts (Antec),Motherboard:Gigabyte x38:dq6,HDD:300 gb sata ,OS:Xp Professionall sp2 I upgraded from ATI x1900xtx to Geforce 9800 gtx(exactly 16 months) This card is huge ,you need to have good size case.I had to change the position of one of my hard disks. The evga card is well built and rugged. Very easy to install,Evga drivers cd install all you need.No hassles Once the card is started ,its very quiet.I checked the graphic cards temps it showed 60 degrees(no load). On high load ,temps increases to 70 Celsius, still the fan is very quiet at 23% speed(default) My room temp is 28c,my cpu temp 40 degrees Celsius It blows all games out of the water except crysis only at high settings ,no AA. if you have money to blow ,this is a very good card top buy. Also lifetime warranty ,its a very good daily.
Pretty solid. May 23, 2008 C. J. Dorton (VA.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently purchased two of these for a SLI setup. The performance is pretty solid, even compared to my "old" 8800 ultra, with the added benefit of MUCH less heat. Installation in my tower was a bit tricky due to the size of the cards and the location of the secondary PCI-E slot, but doable. The bundle was a bit lacking, just the normal plethora of odd cables but that was no big deal to me. As far as I know they're very overclock friendly, but air cooling is perfectly adequit for stock speeds with these cards. If you're in need of an upgrade these are great cards overall, though waiting a few months for a true "new" generation release might be more beneficial.
Monster performance for a reasonble price! May 30, 2008 Howard Mullis (new york, NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This card has been the best choice i'v made for my pc, i was going to go for the 9800 gx2, but after a few hours of thinking i went for this one and i'm happy i did. Crysis at high settings 40 fps the min, while playing online goes beyond the 100 fps (but it doesn't remain all the way up there for long). As people say, "this is the best bang for your buck." my rig if you're interested in knowing intel Q9450 (it took me months to finally find one), 4 gig corsair ram 800mhz, evga 780i mobo, and my evga 9800 gtx. Later!
Crysis at 1920x1200... May 8, 2008 Trevor Burgan (Laguna Niguel, CA USA) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this video card from Tiger Direct via Amazon. They shipped the product quickly and right after I got it the price dropped $30. When I called to get that amount refunded to my card, they informed me that I could only get a credit to spend at Tiger Direct, which wasn't what I wanted, but I used it to buy Crysis. The install was easy in my Dell XPS-720 and this card easily handles all the games I currently play without any problems.
