Why isn't this included with the camcorder? February 28, 2008 J. Hargrove (Austin, TX United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I was annoyed to find that the equipment that came with my new camcorder did not include a cable to connect the camera to my computer. The USB cable that the manufacturer supplied was useless; I could find no software to recognize the connection. I tried locating this cable at a couple of stores in the area, then ordered this. Well, it works great! It fits the camera, something that "standard" firewire cables don't do. Adobe Premier recognized the connection as soon as I plugged it in and downloaded video for editing. Now for the hard part: Reducing 2 hours of HD video to something viewable.
The connection is finicky June 9, 2008 Ben (Schenectady, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The cable gets the job done. But when I first make the connection to the video camera, and the software gives me the ok to download from an external device, it doesn't always "connect" right away. It'll start searching for the device and then say there's nothing connected. I'll have to click start again and jiggle the connection to the camera for it to recognize it. This may even happen more than once...then it'll connect ok and go though the entire process without error. It's just a bit annoying at first sometimes.
Nice cable April 10, 2008 Chris Chris (NH) Cable was great to transfer video from camcorder to PC via firewire. Works as expected.
works but not as shown May 2, 2008 Michael Gifford 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
the cable does the job but i chose this one (and paid a bit extra for it over other vendors) for the clear look it has - instead i received a black cable much the one others were selling for half the cost - oh well
It works! May 15, 2008 H. Rosser (Ga) I didn't know what those ports were for on my DV Camcorder - the Camcorder didn't come with the cables or with instructions on how to transfer videos to a computer, but after over a year of "just playing it back on tv" this cable gives another life to my camcorder I can now make DVDs and bunches of other nerdy stuff. Like Howard Dean Says: "EEEE- HA!"
