I have never purchased a cartridge that gave such poor quality prints - and I was only printing text. I may have gotten a bad one, maybe others have had better results, but I would not recommend this product.

I do a lot of B&W printing and this cartridge is a real workhorse. I don't count the pages, but these things run a long time without replacement.
Good shelf life too. I found an old one that's been on the shelf for longer than I can remember. Put it in my printer, and it works like a champ.
I suspect that the earlier reviewer of this item might have bought an 'aftermarket' refilled cartridge. I've had trouble with those, too. Have learned to stick with genuine OEM cartridges.

HP gives the printers away and makes all their profit on the ink. So therefore, this item is mch more expensive than it should be.
Go for the hp 96 instead February 7, 2008

The HP 96 is the same cartridge, but it holds more ink, and depending on the price you pay, is usually more economical.

I like that this product comes with an envelope to send your old cartridge back for recycling and you don't have to pay for the postage.
