Product Description At 400 megabits per second, the FireWire/1394/i. LINK standard is ideal for multimedia input devices such as digital video (DV) camcorders, and high-speed storage devices, scanners, and CD-RW drives. In fact, you can "daisy chain" up to 62 peripherals from the two external FireWire ports on your DuoConnect card.USB 2.0 combines high-speed performance with the plug-and-play simplicity that has made USB peripherals so popular. USB 2.0 products include external hard drives, CD-RWs, DVD-Rs, and scanners can run at up to 480 Mbps. That's 40 times faster than USB 1.1 peripherals! DuoConnect's three external ports provide maximum compatibility and connectivity to the newest USB 2.0 devices as well as USB 1.1 devices.

Not exactly glamorous, does what it needs to do January 17, 2007 Six Dollar Man 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Computer folks love to talk about the latest, greatest hard drives, flat-panel monitors, video cards and the like. Little mention is made of basic utilitarian components such as this. That said, the Adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3020 provides solid performance and system expansion and does it well, while calling no particular attention to itself. With its own power connector, this card allows a practically unlimited number of USB/FireWire devices to be connected to a computer. I've connected a printer, a scanner, and two external hard drives to this device and download digital camcorder DV via FireWire. All connected devices communicate stably, quickly, and reliably, freeing up my front-panel USB ports for other devices such as digital cameras and flash drives. If you need additional USB or FireWire ports, this Adaptec device is the answer.
A wonderful IEEE 1394 & USB 2.0 pci card Windows Vista ready !! July 16, 2007 Juan Gualdron (Miami, Florida USA) I've mounted on my old PC with a new Windows Vista and I can say it's wonderful that this card can be auto-recognized without drivers when Windos Vista runs. I've read all about this cards, and Adaptec cards did it. I can say This company can be update to the newest operating system. Sorry for my poor english.
Not for speed freaks January 19, 2008 D. Biery (KY, USA) I have the AUA 3020A which is different from the picture. There's 1 firewire, 3 USB and a smaller square USB port. I bought this to upgrade to the faster USB 2.0 for my Mac Quicksilver 2002. However, you will only get the USB 1.1 speed as noted at the Adaptec website. The Mac hardwired Firewire is considerable faster than the PCI based Firewire. Great if you need more ports but not faster speed. I rated this a 2 star because the label is somewhat misleading for Mac users looking for USB 2.0.
Adaptec Dupconnect 3020 January 31, 2008 Star Geezer Works fine as all my Adaptec purchases do. Helps extend the lives of my older systems.
