Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Defend your iPod nano while showcasing its stunning looks. This hard, crystal-clear case does both while providing access to all functions and controls. The easy-to-open closure gives you a secure spot for your iPod nano. The belt clip snaps on and conveniently hooks your iPod nano to a belt, pocket, purse or backpack. Notches in the clip let you wind up excess earbud cord for storage. MicroShield includes its own custom designed dock insert so it pops into any product with a Universal Dock Well while still inside the case.

4 out of 5 stars Good overall, but a couple of improvements needed   January 30, 2007

As transparent cases go for the Nano, this is about the best I found, but there are a couple of things that could be improved. First, the opening at the top for the hold button is useless if you lack long fingernails or slender fingers. My very average finger cannot slide the switch because the opening is too small and the depth of the plastic surrounding it too great. Fortunately, this may be less an issue than it would be for an iPod without the case - since the click wheel is also somewhat recessed into the face and there is less likelyhood of accidentally turning it on or engaging the controls.

The silicone skin over the click wheel is fairly sensitive, but feels thick enough to offer some protection. The included belt clip is a nice feature, and serves the extra purpose of holding the headphones when they are wound around the iPod. The advertised "notches" in the belt clip specifically for winding the headphones on the other hand are useless. The clip is positionable and "locks" in place in different positions, so it could prove very useful. It is also removeable in case you have no need for it. There is NO lanyard or place to attach one, if that is important to you, this is not the case for you.

Finally, there is no manual included. It may not seem necessary, but removing the belt clip is hard to figure out without the sense that you will break the case. The package includes an insert sending you to the manufacturer's website for the manual, but none is available there. [..]

Overall a very good case that could stand some slight improvement, but I am generally very pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars XtremeMac does thins right!   March 14, 2007

I got the XtremeMac Airplay Boost and it was really nicely made. So I figured the MicroShield ought to be nice, too. Yep! It's great! I especially like the way the belt clip is part of a separate assembly. When you unclip it, the case is left with a completely smooth back - no lug or hole. The built-in screen protector is excellent. The clickwheel cover works great. The "hinge" is made from the same flexible plastic (I don't think it is actually silicone) as the clickwheel cover and the "latch" device. They work pretty well and they look nice. Be careful not to damage the "hinge", which is on the left side by trying to unlatch it. The "latch" is on the right side. I agree that the only possible real complaint is that I can't work the Hold switch. But that doesn't bother me that much. Overall, it is nearly perfect.

4 out of 5 stars The best around   June 27, 2007

I bought this case for my mom's iPod and plan on getting one for mine, too. Of all the clear cases I have seen (and believe me, I've looked around for a long time), this one seems to give the most protection, including for the screen and wheel. One downside is that it has an opaque strip on the back right where the engraving is, but you can still read it if you try. A lot of other cases I have seen don't even give you that much.

Very good buy.

2 out of 5 stars Good concept but far from perfect.   August 10, 2007

Pros:
*Clip on clip;
*Rotating clip;
*Strong plastic;
*Rubber hinge and clasp concept keeps the case as one unified piece;
*Bottom iPod ports are easily accessed with the case on;
*Screen protector is permanent and set in from the case, limiting scrathes;
*Rubber padding on back keeps the back of the case from getting scrathed when sitting on desk or table.

Cons:
*Case is difficult to open and close, especially when an iPod is inside;
*Case is not quite long enough. Even with lots of pushing and pressing, the bottom of my Nano extends about .25mm below the case;
*There are no bottom bracings like with the Griffin iClear polycarbonate case;
*Case is misshapen so that it is not a snug fit when the Nano is in the case;
*Rubber cover over the clickwheel is strong but too thick so i cut it up and removed it. I put a plastic film over the clickwheel to give it some protection. That works great;
*All these plexiglass type cases will eventually get scrathed up.

3 out of 5 stars Looks better than it performs   August 21, 2007

I had high hopes for this case, but it didn't pan out (I used it for two weeks to make sure I put it through its paces).

While it does seem to provide good protection for my Nano, it's disadvantages made me choose a different case. First, it's extremely hard to access the Hold button. Second, despite having the rubber sides, it's still a bit slippery. Third, it's pretty hard to open and close (if you're not going to do this, this third item might not be an issue - but I put my Nano into another case when I go to the gym).

Ended up using the Speck SeeThru-Lucid instead.
