Great for iPods but you may need an EQ April 16, 2007 KW 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a previous Jensen DVD TS player because I wanted the gigamp3 and ipod interface. The ipod interface is nearly flawless. It's nice being able to control music via the touch screen. The only thing missing is the ability to use the shuffle. (The TS does not work for videos and photos for the iPod, you have to control those with the ipod itself). The interface fit nicely in my glovebox and works great with the adapter I purchased seperately. Unlike my previous Jensen DVD, this one does play gigamp3 discs! (mp3s on a DVD-R disc) and I haven't notices the noise errors I used to get with the old unit, so they have done their homework and improved for this generation. On the downside, you'll probably need a seperate EQ if you use the sub RCA output because it tops out at 0 DBs. I run two amps and ran the RCAs to the main speaker amp no problem but the bass amp (a very powerful one) didn't enough signal to be able to hear any bass. I play mostly rock and you can really hear the bottom end missing if you run a seperate sub amp. I fixed this with a Kenwood KGC-4042A - EQ/ crossover which bumps the bass DBs up so it's fine (if you need an EQ that's a great unit and works perfectly with this DVD player). This unit's onboard EQ is a big step down from my old Jensen (VM9510TS) unit as well. The next unit up in the line probably has a better EQ and puts out bass but it wasn't available yet when I ordered this. Overall, this is the unit to get if you want a great iPod interface in your car, the video and gigamp3 is a nice bonus but if you run amps, you may need a little something extra to get a balanced sound.

Some might consider this a lower end product, due to the fact that it's about half the price of it's nearest competition. Rest assured, the 'cheap' stigma is in price alone. It's an easy to use, easy to adjust, and fun to use deck that even the least tech-savvy of car owners can operate easily. First off, I was surprised at how good the picture is. I never feel like I'm watching on a tiny screen, or squinting to make out details. The sound is also good, although at times during dvd playback, I thought it was a bit quiet. I haven't tried using a satellite radio or iPod yet, but for cd and mp3-cd playback it worked well, with great options for navigating through folders. Few warnings for those thinking of buying this product; -Player automatically reverts to full volume after being powered down. Can be a bit of a shocker if you're not ready for it. -When going into the input menu or setup menu, there's a break in the audio for about 1-1.5 seconds. This isn't really a big deal, but is becoming more and more annoying the more it happens. -It has some trouble recognizing the track title of most store bought discs, substituting song names with "Track 1, Track 2" etc... Not an issue with mp3 discs with ID3 tags. -There's no option to fast-forward an mp3. I thought this would be a big deal, which prevented me from buying this deck for a while. Not really an issue. Considering the price, it's a really decent deck. Intuitive controls, easy installation, and fun to show off. Other than a few minor (and probably easily remedied) issues, I'd definitely recommend this deck.

I GOTTA SAY I AM FAIRLY IMPRESSED, IT IS LOUD AND CLARITY IS NICE, LIKE THE OTHER REVIEW SAID, YOU HAVE TO BALANCE THE SOUND WITH A EQUALIZER. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT, HECK, SOME OF FRIENDS WANT ME TO ORDER THE THE SAME MODEL FOR THEM,

This unit is basically terrible. First, when playing a CD at low volumes, i can hear the radio in the background. Also, the sound quality of my subwoofer is terrible compared to my Pioneer CD Player. Another thing that disappoints me is that nearly every CD i put in this thing skips. Ill be watching a video on a brand new DVD, literally straight out of the box, and itll skip. I hope the 9412 model fixes all this, but i am not willing to try another Jensen. Go big or go home!
