Product Description All the features you want out of an optical mouse in a stylish black enclosure that looks great on your desk. Use it on just about any surface because it records motion optically with an ultra-precise sensor instead of with a ball, so there are no moving parts to break or get dirty. And its rounded shape nestles comfortably into your left or right hand.
Amazon.com Product Description Now there's a mouse that works so well, you're free to focus on what you're doing instead of on your mouse. The Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical records motion optically, so there's no ball to break or get dirty, even in the dirtiest workspaces. And because there's no ball, the Wheel Mouse Optical glides smoothly across most surfaces--no mouse pad required. The optical sensor has twice as much accuracy and speed as some optical sensors currently on the market. With 800 dpi resolution, this is a great mouse for gaming. You can save time by using the buttons for shortcuts, and with easy scrolling without scroll bars. Click the scroll wheel and the Logitech WebWheel feature puts browsing commands and Web sites at your fingertips. The mouse's shape nestles into your left or right hand. The Wheel Mouse Optical features a five-year warranty.

Only an Average Mouse August 30, 2000 28 out of 33 found this review helpful
I have used many types and brands of mouse in the past. I went ahead to buy this Logitech Mouse for its optical feature, its cool looks, price and that it is a Logitech. However, I must say that my initial experience of this mouse is below average. Here's why.....The mouse is to light and the cable tends to orientate the mouse when the hand is not on it. The feel of the mouse is very "cheap" plastic, a little testuring on the side might be better. The 4 gliding pads on the bottom of the mouse is not very well in place and if you are using a cloth type of mouse pad or on cloth surface, the gliding pads tends to restrict movement. Lastly, I find the scroll wheel feeling and quality to be sluggish. In all, I would expect more from Logitech which is a world leader in mouse manufacturing.
Mixed feelings December 10, 2002 Andrew Hamada (Seattle, WA) 28 out of 41 found this review helpful
The basic functions of this mouth operate just as well as you would expect: the buttons function smoothly, the wheel works well, and the entire thing is plug & play on my laptop running Windows XP Home. This mouse is NOT, however, suited for gamers. Simply put, the optical tracking system is far too unresponsive. What I mean is this: attempting to move the mouse quick from one side of the screen to the other will result in the optical sensor failing and the cursor simply getting confused instead of making the trip across the screen. Gamers (especially the FPS variety) will find this an extreme detriment to their gaming ability. Invest the extra money and purchase a Logitech mouse with MX Tracking technology - they're much more accurate and responsive, unlike this cheap, clunky device.
The Better Mouse July 28, 2000 User of Many Mice (San Jose, CA) 27 out of 31 found this review helpful
I have worked in Tech Support for some time now so I have used many different mice, but I have never found a mouse with as high a level of quality and precision as a Logitech Mouse. The benefits of an Optical Mouse over a ball mouse are many, and in this case the price is also quite nice. Anyone who has used a Logitech mouse knows that they are far superior to Microsoft mice in many ways. This mouse is NO exception! I fits right or left handed people and has a much better feel. I have noticed that the wheels on Logitech mice seem to stick less than MS mice also. If you need precision, and hate having to continually clean your ball mouse than this mouse is a MUST HAVE!
Those willing to make a change will be pleased. January 25, 2001 26 out of 26 found this review helpful
First of all, please do not purchase this mouse if you EXPECT the same feel and workings of your old "round ball" mouse. Optical mice are much more precise and sensitive. I see a lot of reviews here stating that a slight mouse move shoots the cursor from one end of the screen to the other and that it is difficult to operate. I do not know why Amazon does not monitor customer responses more closely, as this is something that takes two seconds to alter. Just go into your control panel and change your sensitivity levels on the mouse, (you can also change double clikc speed as well). The key reason I have upgraded my computers with this optical mouse is three fold. 1) Any hand size will feel comfortable using this mouse. Microsoft is a little big for smaller hands. 2) Personaly I like tho have the mouse to have some weight to it, not that this mouse is heavy or anything, but I did not really see the point of the "light as a feather" approcah Microsoft took with its optical mice. 3) I despise having to replace my older non-optical mice every year, it was simply not worth it in the long run. I have not only had no issues with this mouse, but I no longer have to use the q-tip and air spray cleaning method every month to keep performance. Would HIGHLY recommend this mouse, definatly worth it.
Hooray for Logitech! October 9, 2001 Mark Hills (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
I have owned so many mice in my life that I have bought an extra cat to deal with them. Seriously, I guage all mice I buy by how long they last when compared to the first mouse I ever owned- a vintage circa 1990 two-button Dexxa, which lasted me 4 years and three PCs. I have owned 3 Logitech mice-all with wheels, one cordless and finally, this blue and silver little gem...set up time was as long as it took me to get it out of the box and slapped into the back of my system, which was about 13 seconds. Computer users of the world, get rid of your ball-mice and buy an optical mouse right now! Gone are the days of poor response from your mouse pointer because the ball and/or internal wheels are gummed up with dust, Fritos or salsa dip. It's great for applications like PhotoShop, fantastic for games like Unreal Tournament, Elite Force, and Homeworld- where there are a lot of sweeping movements. Movement is precise and accurate, the feel in your hand is comfortable, unless you have really big hands, then it might be a problem- plus it glows bright red when in operation, so that might be a selling feature to people who like lots of blinky-winky lights on their equipment. Is there a downside? Sometimes, you may accidentally bring up the Logitech control menu in the middle of something else you are doing- no big deal. Buy this mouse now.
