Amazon.com Review
Braun's AromaDeluxe is a no-nonsense, easy-to-use coffeemaker for those who still prefer a basic cup of coffee. The coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups using a fast brewing method that thoroughly extracts the rich flavor and aroma from your ground coffee. The integrated Brita water filter also contributes to better-tasting coffee by screening out chlorine and other harsh minerals, plus it prevents calcification within the water tank. A marker on the top of the water tank helps you keep track of when the water filter needs to be changed. Other handy extras on the AromaDeluxe include a filter release button, which swings the detachable filter basket open for filling or easy cleaning, and a pause-and-serve feature, which stops the brewing while you pour a cup of coffee midway through a cycle. For safety, the glass carafe has a comfortable, nonslip handle with an open design to accommodate larger hands. Further safety measures include a large, red power button that is easy to see but difficult to switch on by accident. This coffeemaker is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

5 out of 5 stars It's Your Basic "No Frills... Just Makes Great Coffee" Maker   August 26, 2004

The Braun KF510 10 Cup Coffee Maker does not offer much in terms of frills. There is no clock function and no auto on function or auto-off function or a beeping sound when the coffee is finished brewing.

What it does offer though is a great tasting cup of coffee. It also offers superior ergonomics. The unit is well designed and comfortable. The carafe opens easily and feels secure in the hand. The water resevoir is wide open so that you do not have to be William Tell pouring the water into the resevoir. There is an outside water level indicator just can case you use a vegetable sprayer to fill the carafe. It has a pop out cone basket for easy access. It also offers a Brita water filtration system which only improves the coffee flavor.

My only complaint - it is only a 10 Cup Maker. One can never have enough coffee so it would have been nice to have the 12 Cup option but alas, I guess that means I'll just have to make another pot!

5 out of 5 stars More Affordable Than BUNN...And Better!   April 9, 2006

We take our coffee very seriously. The right brewing temperature is key for a great cup of coffee. Recently, our Cuisinart coffeemaker, which cost three times as much, bit the dust. I decided to try a BUNN as I had heard so many great things about them. After shelling out a fair amount of money for that and hoping for great things, we were sadly disappointed, since what promised to be HOT coffee was not even close. No more big dollar coffeemakers for us! After reading favorable reviews on Braun, I decided to give this model a try. In one word: "WOW!" Let's see....not only do we have a sleek design, a Brita water purifier included, a super fast brewing time, but we also have HOT coffee (Gee, what a novelty.) You can't beat this coffeemaker!....it's a dandy for this price.

5 out of 5 stars Dependable Braun   January 23, 2003

Years ago we had a Braun and loved it. When it was time to get a new coffe maker, we went for another brand. We regreted it. I was so happy to find this Braun coffee maker on Amazon for an excellent price. It is very easy to use and makes a wonderful pot of coffee. It also brews quickly. The new design is great!

5 out of 5 stars Good, 180 degree coffee at a reasonable price!   March 22, 2008

I've been on a quest for a good coffee maker for several months, looking for one that will make coffee hot enough to get the most flavor out of the beans. I've read that 200 degrees is optimal, so my goal was to get as close to that as possible.

We have a Bodum French press which makes good, hot coffee, but I find that coffee made without a paper filter upsets my stomach. So I've been looking for a good drip filter coffee maker, and I've bought and returned three during the last several months.

First was a Capresso thermal. It made good coffee, 180 degrees on my instant-read thermometer, but had a lot of little components to it that we felt would probably break sooner than later, and were also regretting that we had actually shelled out $189 just for a coffee maker! Were able to return it to the online store where it was purchased.

Then I tried an inexpensive Black & Decker with a glass thermal carafe from a local department store--about $18 on sale. The coffee didn't get hot enough--only about 160 degrees. Back it went.

The third try was a Krups thermal carafe coffee maker which cost $99. Third time the charm? Nope. This coffee was still only 160 degrees, and the stainless steel carafe was terrible--clumsy to use and didn't keep the coffee hot for more than one hour. Back it went.

Then I ordered this Braun Aroma Deluxe coffee maker, after once again reading through Amazon's reviews. I had considered getting a Bunn on the basis that the coffee would be hot enough, but some reviewers said you have to use a lot more coffee, and the always-hot-might-evaporate hot water tank wasn't appealing. Sounded like a hassle. And the Bunn is also on the pricey side.

So I ordered a Braun Aroma Deluxe. Reviews looked pretty good. I had by this time given up on the idea of a thermal carafe, believing that any coffee going into a cold steel carafe isn't going to stay hot for long. And you can't see the coffee as it's brewing--didn't like that. I have long used a glass vacuum carafe to store my just-brewed coffee anyway, so I'm going to continue to use it. I usually preheat it with hot tap water while while the coffee is brewing.

But back to the coffee maker. It's simple to use with its lighted on/off switch and swing out filter basket. I fill the reservoir by holding the machine under my cold water faucet and watching the side gauge. Then I pop a filter into the basket, fill with just-ground coffee, set the glass carafe under and flip the switch on. The coffee brews quickly and--this is the most important part--it comes out at 180 degrees, even if I've used cold tap water. The coffee is so good that my husband, the French press user in the family, has begun using it too, especially when he's in a hurry.

This Braun comes with a Britta filter, which we are using even though we have well water and it's presumably not full of dangerous chemicals. I haven't tried a comparison without the filter, but if you don't want to use one there is a part included which you can use to fill that space in the reservoir should you choose not to use one. I also really like the carafe: it's attractive and the handle is really nice to pick up and use. The cone-shaped filter seems to be an advantage because the coffee tastes better than with my old Procter-Silex that has a flat filter--even when I would pour boiling water into it in an attempt to get a higher brewing temperature.
To sum up: very good coffee and a very reasonable price. I'm glad I bought this one and recommend it if you only need a simple, timer-less coffee maker.

1 out of 5 stars Save your money   January 10, 2007

I bought this coffee maker to try and get above the level of cheap coffeemakers. I did not succeed. I paid $50 and could have bought a $20 Mr. Coffee and saved myself a lot of my money. This is not a top of the line coffee maker with bottomline features.... it is a bottomline coffee maker with bottomline features. It has no clock, no timer, no automatic turnoff (It will cook the pot dry if you forget to turn it off. It is hard to fill to the correct level without having water run out the hole in the reservoir at the back. It is hard to pour a cup of coffee without cascades of dribbles. You are supposed to be able to take a cup out as it is brewing. In a word, "Don't". It just keeps drooling coffee all over the heating element. And it takes forever to brew a pot of coffee.

I am not an engineer, just a harried housewife that is trying to get everything together in the morning and get everyone where they need to go. THIS coffeemaker should have never made it to the marketplace.

If you want a basic coffeemaker, get a Mr. Coffee for $20, this is not what you are looking for.

There is nothing "Deluxe" about this coffee maker except the profit they are making off of consumers like me.
