Product Description Slim design / Fits into your refrigerator door / Reduces chlorine taste / Includes pitcher and one filter
Amazon.com Review For crisp, clean drinking water in small family or single-person households, Brita offers their Slim Pitcher with Filter. The filter reduces impurities and harmful substances from tap water and holds approximately 40 liquid ounces. The slim pitcher fits neatly into many refrigerator doors, enabling users to maximize shelf space. Certified by the National Sanitation Foundation International, Brita water filters contain a mesh screen to catch sediment and particles as tap water flows through into the pitcher's basin. Brita pitchers employ an ion exchange resin with activated carbon granules to draw mercury, zinc, copper and cadmium from tap water, trapping these harmful elements inside the filter. Brita filters eradicate up to 98 percent of the lead found in tap water while significantly reducing other impurities and dangerous bacteria including cryptosporidium, giardia, and benzene. Additionally, the odor and flavor of chlorine are removed from drinking water. Brita filters should be replaced every 40 gallons or after two months of use. Replacement filters can be purchased separately. Wash the Slim Pitcher by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. Brita offers a limited 90-day warranty on pitchers in the event of manufacturer defects. The pitcher weighs two pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Used to be good. Now the filters are TERRIBLE! April 14, 2006 Shannon Bradford (Ukiah, CA United States) 112 out of 130 found this review helpful
I've used Brita pitchers/filters for years. They used to be very good. In the last couple of years however their quality control has gotten worse and worse. The last few filters I bought all leaked large amounts of the black granules (about a teaspoonful a week). I don't like having black granules swimming in my glass of water. We're using filters to get rid of junk not add it in! When I contracted Brita about this several times via email they wouldn't respond (other than to send me an automated response saying they'd get back to me within a few days). Buy a different brand. Brita is becoming a joke due to very poor quality control.
Great for College Students November 4, 2005 Diaspora Chic (Silver Spring, MD) 41 out of 48 found this review helpful
The cost of bottled water adds up and can burn a hole in your wallet, especially if you're a starving student. The Brita pitcher is affordable and saves you more money. And it's also a healthy approach to drinking sodas which adds a great deal of sugar and pounds. Don't let the size fool you. It's not heavy and doesn't take up room. I highly recommend getting this product as to buying spring water in bulk and gallons. You won't feel that you're wasting money and you will get six to eight glasses of water each day.
Durable, Stylish, Practical March 26, 2007 B. Sites (USA) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
We got this pitcher as a wedding gift and we've been using it now for over 3 years. It's the same picther, we aren't particularly careful with it, and still it looks and works like when we first got it. It's a great size and fits nicely in our fridge. The sides stay clear (unlike some pitchers that yellow) and the top is solid. We were so happy with it we got one for someone else as a wedding gift some time ago. Some others have mentioned black granules, but we've only seen them in the top of the pitcher (the filter area, not the area that filtered-water goes that you drink). It's our non-scientific understanding that those are part of the carbon-filtering system in the Brita filters. In the 3 years of use, I don't think we've ever seen them in our filtered drinking water - if we have, it was maybe once. The only other con for the pitcher is you may have to wait a while to fill it. The top part that holds water that is passing through the Brita filter is smaller than the part that holds filtered water, so it takes about two to three fills of the top part to fill the filtered part. The filtering is also a little slow, but not a problem.
DEFECTIVE !!! April 24, 2006 natto (NYC) 19 out of 26 found this review helpful
I bought this pitcher thinking it was a super bargain. I rely on the Brita brand but in this case it seems i have been misled, almost duped! The pitcher is so super cheap and poorly designed that with every pour the entire inner component comes out resulting in spilled water. Not just drips, this is a plain and simple.. spilled water. It is so poorly fit together that i can only imagine they are selling these as factory rejects or prototypes or other, but they are not fit for home use. You could say that the filter costs $6.99 alone so why not take a risk and try it... but even this filter was releasing loads of charcoal gray water. I have used Brita for 6 years and never have i seen this downpour of gray water. I filled the pitcher 5 times and the 6th time i finally got water that did not "seem" gray. I think these products are defective all-round, pitcher, filter. Take your money and buy another model. I feel very let down by Brita for this poor quality and extremely poor design where my pitcher disassembles itself with every pour.
Stale Water August 14, 2006 Joker Robot (NY NY) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
This pitcher is cheap, and you get what you pay for. It has very poor functional design. The chamber that holds the water to be purified and the purifier will pop out of the pitcher while pouring water unless you pour at a very shallow angle. And since there is no spout cover, the purified water will take on all the funky smells of your refrigerator if left to sit for too long.
