Not too keen on these... February 18, 2008 carolyn (Canal Winchester, OH) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The BEST part of this product is the convenience. Just rip open a pouch, toss it in, and voila! You're done! However, they just don't get my dishes clean at all. I open my dishwasher after a powerscrub cycle, and the "stuff" all over the dishes is amazing. Even after prewashing, they just look disgusting, they're all streaky, just plain gross. I use the Electrasol version of these and just LOVE those! Plus, they're cheaper and get the dishes so much cleaner. I have a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher too - not a cheapie, so why I'm having so much trouble with these Cascade tablets I have no idea. The liquid doesn't work either but both Electrasol and Palmolive do. Oh well. I guess if you like Cascade and it works for you in your dishwasher, then buy these too. But if you have problems like mine, I'd suggest Electrasol or Palmolive.
premeasured, no mess, great shine March 15, 2008 Kathy (Houston, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Cascade "action pacs" detergent is great; very effective cleaner and leaves glasses (and crystal) and dishes shining. Works with a fully loaded dishwasher (of rinsed dishes) on regular cycle, the dishes, pots, silverware (stainless and sterling - in separate baskets) and glasses all come out clean, unspotted and shiny. Much less mess than my old liquid detergent and no need to buy the special liquid shine additive that's dispensed from the reservoir near the detergent cup. One note - handle the Action Paks with dry hands when loading the soap cup. The plastic coating on the pak starts to dissolve with moisture.
incredibly disgusting April 21, 2008 sbma44 (Washington, DC, United States) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
Maybe it's just that our dishwasher at work is a smaller-than-fullsize unit. But dishes that come out of it after being washed with this product *stink*. They are completely saturated with the noxious scent included in the tablets. So much so that I find myself re-washing every dish that comes out. Just this morning I tried to eat some oatmeal from a freshly-washed mug and found my eyes were actually watering from the emitted scent -- that's how strong it is. Cool packaging, but really, really gross results. Avoid!
Easy, Premeasured Dishwasher Soap December 5, 2007 Loyd E. Eskildson (Phoenix, AZ.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
No mess, premeasured - cleans well, and dissolves completely. Also nice fresh odor permeates the entire kitchen.
Best Dishwasher Detergent EVER! June 9, 2008 Lawmom (American Midwest) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I suspect that those who have not had good luck with these have the heat setting on their home water heaters set too low or the water heating apparatus in their dishwashers doesn't heat the water hot enough to adequately dissolve dishwasher products (leave aside what this must mean about whether their dishes are sufficiently cleaned in too-cool water!). I've been washing dishes for more than 30 years and have done so by hand and with any number and type of dishwashers (even old portable dishwashing machines!). I've used every type and kind of dishwashing liquid and dishwasher detergent you can imagine. These Cascade Action Pacs are the best thing I've ever used--the are convenient, prevent waste (just how much dishwasher detergent SHOULD you add for an extra dirty load?--no worries here--one "pod" cleans as many really dirty dishes as I care to put into my top-of-the-line Kenmore dishwasher), get everything sparkling clean without pre-washing or rinsing, and smell great. Again, if these aren't working for you, I suspect you aren't using hot enough water in your dishwasher (a fact that should trouble you re the cleanliness of your kitchen) or you aren't running a long enough cycle--it doesn't pay to run a short cycle--if you are worried about wastefullness, or environmental impact, wait until the the thing is completely full and then run the maximum cycle using the pots and pan scrub and sani-dry, features, etc.--you won't be disappointed with the results of this product and you will have peace of mind that you are really getting your dishes clean--a fact very important to your family's health.
