| Customer Reviews:
Awsome Mix!! December 30, 2007 S. Chy (Dumfries, VA) This is by far the best mix I have found for chili. My friend turned me on to this and now I am so bummed that I can't find it any where. Even my kids like it.
Wow! Surprisingly good! November 24, 2007 David C. Novak (Lawrenceville, Georgia) My two boys and I first tried this chili mix on a Boy Scout camping trip and we all loved it. Only problem was we didn't know at the time this was actually Tempo Chili Mix. After the camping trip, my boys kept asking me to re-create the chili experience from that trip and I was unable to deliver. (And I actually have a great homemade chili recipe that I've made for years but was still unable to satisfy my boys.) I eventually enquired with our Scout leader as to what he used to make that great chili and he revealed his "secret" -- Tempo Chili Mix. This is BY FAR THE BEST CHILI MIX I have ever tried and this is one of the few places that carry this fine product. The chili this makes is very flavorful but not too spicy (making it family friendly). I personally prefer a little more heat, but I always end up tweaking my own bowl so as to appease the rest of the family. Great with some freshly baked Mexican Style Cornbread Mix. Please note that you get quite a bit of chili mix with this order -- 24 small boxes to be exact in two 12-box "cases". You certainly can't beat the price, though you may wish to split the purchase with a friend or family member. UPDATE: Having made several batches of this chili, let me share with you the recipe that works best at our house. You will need: * 2 packages of Tempo Chili Mix * 2 pounds lean ground beef (I like ground sirloin) * 1 Cup water * 1 8 oz can of tomato sauce * 1 15 oz can of stewed tomatoes * 4 cloves of fresh garlic, minced * 1 medium onion * 2 16 oz cans total of either pinto beans, kidney beans, or both (optional) Brown meat together with garlic and onion in a stockpot over medium heat. While browning the meat, throw in a little of your favorite steak seasoning or seasoned salt to taste (I use "Uncle Chris' Gourmet Steak Seasoning"). Drain any excess fat. Mix in 2 packs of Tempo Chili Mix, water, tomato sauce, and stewed tomatoes (you may wish to first cut up or lightly blend these tomatoes -- your choice). Keep stirring and bring to a boil. Optionally add pinto and/or kidney beans. Reduce heat to low and cook for another 15 minutes or so, stirring occasionally.
