The best curry powder ever for my curry recipe August 9, 2006 Chuck Busby (Concrete, WA USA) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
People can't get enough of my curry. 1. Place 1 cube of butter in a large sauce pan and cover the top with about 1/16th inch of minced garlic. Turn heat on high and melt the butter. 2. Chop one large onion and carmelize it in the melted butter. 3. Cut 2 gala apples and 1 bartlet pear into bite size cubes and add to the carmelized onion. Cook until soft. 4. Add 1 tsp salt, 2 tbsp flour, and 8 tbsp (1/2 can) Sun Brands Madras Curry Powder. Stir until fruit and onions are coated. 5. Add 1/2 pint heavey whipping cream and stir. 6. Add 1 1/2 lbs pre-cooked chicken (cubed into bite-size pieces) or 1 1/2 lbs pre-cooked shrimp. Stir until all is coated. 7. Add 1/2 pint heavey whipping cream and stir until mixed well. 8. Turn heat down to medium and let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, while you cook about 3 cups of rice. 9. Serve in a bowl over rice with available condiments such as raisins, shedded coconut, chopped peanuts, or chutney. Enjoy, all my friends love this curry.
Made in the USA March 26, 2007 Victor da la Tnalag 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the USA version of the curry powder from India. I have made and bought many kinds over the years and this one is my favorite. Might be a bit salty, especially if you are on a salt restricted diet. I have gone so far as to sprinkle it on vanilla ice cream. Awesome treat! But usually just add it to fried tofu or cauliflower stir fry for a quick dinner. 11 more tins to go before reorder!
Sun Brands Madras Curry Powder January 12, 2007 Michael Doel (Gig Harbor, WA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used this particular curry powder for almost 14 years and have had trouble obtaining it. From time to time I have had to find other suppliers and am glad that Amazon is now stocking it. I hope that they will continue to do so but, just in case, I bought a box of it because it is the best I have found in 70 years of enjoying curries on four continents.
Where's the Saffron? November 3, 2006 Mark LaJoie (California, USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a very mild curry powder for my taste. And I was disappointed to discover that it has no saffron. The "mellow yellow" is what makes a curry for me.
Great price for this spice June 13, 2007 Katharine S. Dupre (Suffolk, VA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I could have purchased this item on several different websites but chose to do it here because I am familiar with Amazon and their policies.
