Yummy July 6, 2007 Kateri (S.E. Wisconsin) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This oil couldn't be better. I have been using it in and on everything since I got it, for myself and especially for the wee ones in the house. They love it, especially in things like smoothies and oatmeal. I've also been using it on my face at night and wow; I'm young and don't have many skin issues yet but this oil makes my skin super smooth. I wish Nutiva made more coconut products because the taste is excellent. I prefer it to Tropical Traditions hands down. A great recipe I have discovered with this oil is sweet potato fries. My kids love fries like most kids do, but I don't want them to have the white potato fried variety. Frying some thin sliced sweet potato in this oil and dusting them with a bit of salt and pepper is very very yummy. The kids don't miss the bad fries a bit! I am hoping Nutiva EVCO is available again soon as my first jar is nearly gone!
This is the Best Coconut Oil I have Found! January 1, 2008 Danny Nox (Mississippi USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I did a little research on oils and found that coconut oil in one of the best oils you can use. Olive oil is great but it can go rancid and should not be used at high heats(Never fry with olive oil). I bought some Coconut oil from Swanson Vitamins and it was great. Out of curiosity I ordered the Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut oil from Amazon and it was even better. I actually ate a teaspoon of each to test the flavor. Thats the best way to test them. It has a smooth nutty taste but does not alter the flavor of the food I cook. Coconut oil is such a healthy choice compared to most oils.Just google coconut oil to see. Since your skin is an organ and absorbs everything you put on it this works great on your skin. I guess it's the purity of this because it doesn't leave a coconut smell on your skin like coconut scented store bought skin products do. You can use it on your hair too if you're into oil treatments on your hair. I felt the price paid was very fare and It's available for Amazon's new subscription program which saves me an additional 10% off each order shipped. I have them send out a 2 pack evbery 6 months currently but may have to change that if I can find more uses for this oil.
I LOVE*LOVE*LOVE Nutiva E-V Coconut Oil May 17, 2008 Ginger (Shore, NJ USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
So many product claims these days turn out to be dismal disappointments. NOT true with Nutiva Coconut Oil! The smell is divine, the texture lovely, the taste is heavenly. I consume at least 4 tablespoons daily, starting with melting a teaspoon in my morning coffee. This is "butter" for my veggies, oil for sauteing, my face and body moisturizer, once-a-week hair conditioning treatment, the family sunburn ointment - you name it, I put coconut oil on it! I have dealt with hypothyroid for 10 years, and this is the first time in all of these years that the swelling in my neck at the thyroid area has actually decreased! I'm continuing with my thyroid meds, but to me, to see decreased swelling is amazing. I've had skin breakouts on my chin on and off since starting peri-menopause (had to be hormonal) and I have not had a single one in a very long time. I have to say that when I first started using coconut oil both internally and externally, it drew out some nasty acne. I have read that this is a natural reaction, as the coconut oil is not only a yeast killer resulting in a die-off reaction (Herxheimers Reaction), but it draws the bacteria out of the interior layers of the skin, often bringing on an outbreak of acne that gets worse before it gets better. Well - everything in that run-on sentence happened, but after a week, my skin became glowing, smooth and gorgeous. I've ordered this exact jar of coconut oil from other companies at $21+ shipping a pop. No more - I'll order it through Amazon to get two at a little over $17 each. Great price for an INCREDIBLE product!! Nutiva EVCO ~ I love ya' baby, don't ever change. :^D
Great deal, great product October 6, 2007 L. Parris (GA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have found a great alternative to other oils. I'm allergic to olive oil, so I was interested in something besides just always using canola oil. Sesame oil is ok only for some dishes; same for grapeseed oil, plus grapeseed oil is so expensive. Onions sauteed in coconut oil is very tasty. It's also my choice for popcorn, too. It doesn't add any odd flavor, but actually enhances some dishes, like fish and pork. Definitely recommend giving it a try.
Best Beauty Staple March 30, 2008 Rainy (Seattle) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I purchased the double pack (one for cooking and the other for moisturizing). I love it. The smell is wonderful. Upon touch, the oil (which is solid) melts. I apply it to my body and it is a wonderful moisturizer (body and face). It's not too greasy, well it absorbs rather quickly. I do take care not to touch silks or other fabrics until it is absorbed. I purchased another product from a local company (WA State). The product smelled burned. It was horrible. As soon as I received this, I chucked the other product. It was cheaper in all ways (price and quality).
