Amazon.com Product Description Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue is made from 100% recycled paper, with a minimum of 80% post-consumer materials. Whitened with an environmentally safe process--never with chlorine bleach--this tissue is the healthy choice for your family and your environment. Made from 100% Recycled Chlorine-Free Paper By choosing Seventh Bathroom Tissue, you'll be making an important environmental difference immediately. These paper towels are not whitened with chlorine and are made from 100% recycled paper (80% post-consumer, 20% pre-consumer). Hypo-allergenic, unbleached, fragrance-free, and made without dyes or inks, this tissue paper is safe for septic systems and ideal for low-flow toilets. Post-consumer paper is paper that has been recycled at home or at the office. Buying post-consumer paper helps finish the job you started--of saving the earth's natural resources, including trees, water, and energy. And using products made from post-consumer recycled materials helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide--a greenhouse gas that's the primary contributor to global warming. In fact, a single tree, over its lifetime, absorbs about one tone of CO2. To put it another way, a ton of recycled paper saves seventeen trees. If every household in the U.S. replaced just one roll of 500 sheet virgin fiber bathroom tissue with 100% recycled ones, we could save 448,000 trees, 1.1 million cubic feet of landfill space (equal to 1,700 full garbage trucks), and 161 million gallons of water, which is a year's supply for 1,270 families of four! About Seventh Generation Seventh Generation offers a complete line of natural household products designed to work as well as their traditional counterparts, but use renewable, non-toxic, phosphate-free, and biodegradable ingredients as often as possible, and are never tested on animals. Seventh Generation products are healthy and safe for the air, the surfaces, the pets, and the people in your home--and for the environment outside of it. Every time you use Seventh Generation products you make a difference by saving natural resources, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment, and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.

This company is doing it right... March 24, 2006 L. Smith (Fairfax, VA USA) 46 out of 48 found this review helpful
Okay, so let's be upfront... This toilet paper could be softer--don't expect Charmin softness. But it's really not bad. I rated this product a 5 despite the softness factor because this company is doing it right. You can feel good about this paper being made from 100% recycled materials (80% post-consumer!). In addition, this paper is not whitened using any chlorination process, which is better for all of us. I think that as more people show they are willing to buy products made from recycled content, companies can put more money into making them more luxurious. Go Seventh Generation!
Seventh Generation also offers a softer alternative November 10, 2007 pdX (West Hollywood, CA United States) 45 out of 48 found this review helpful
Seventh Generation offers two types of bath tissue: 500 sheet and 400 sheet. The one listed above, at 500 sheets, is the thinner, tougher, more abrasive type. The one to get instead is the following, also available on Amazon (sometimes): Seventh Generation Bathroom Tissue, 2-ply White Unscented, Case Pack (48-400 Sheet Rolls) The 400 sheet variety is not only great for the environment (80% post consumer recycled/ whitened without chlorine bleach) but also soft and comfortable. Amazon currently lists it as 'unavailable'. To encourage Amazon to carry the more comfortable one, add that one to your wish list. Or once it is available, purchase the 400 sheet one instead. The 500 sheet variety will remind you of being in a gas station restroom. If you end up buying this in bulk, you'll find yourself secretly buying traditional toilet paper to pull out of the cabinet when you have guests...
Excellent quality product! January 11, 2007 Snowbrocade (Santa Barbara, CA) 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
Seventh Generation is a company that specializes in eco-friendly products. The name for the company comes is taken from a quote of the Great Law of the Iroquois confederacy: "In our every deliberation we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations." A philosophy that can easily be extended to decisions both large and small. In this case, the bathroom tissue is made with 100% recycled materials and is whitened without using bleach. Using recycled products not only saves trees but reduces land fill. As for the comfort and utility of this product it is a quality toilet tissue that is reasonably soft and absorbent. So if we can be comfortable, hygenic and eco-friendly, why not?
Well, it is good for the environment July 12, 2006 Peggy (Norfolk, VA United States) 22 out of 26 found this review helpful
I confess I'm a Northern Quilted toliet paper fan. I ordered this to be enviromentally friendly (EF) and was enticed by the coupon. It is as another reviewer noted, rough on the "quilted" side, but soft on the smooth side. I will likely order more, but when company visits, I will revert back to Northern. This product's texture is quite similar to the inexpensive paper used in public restroom facilities. Also I find I use more, so I may be be as "EF" as I had hoped.
keepin' it green--despite the texture and the price August 29, 2007 a music fan 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
Seventh Generation makes a fine brand of bath tissue--even if it's not exactly Charmin soft. I prefer the texture of Scott bath tissue so for me this product was really not bad at all. I enjoy knowing that I am helping to keep our planet "green" when choosing this bath tissue. This bath tissue is made of completely recycled paper--80% of which is post consumer material! Great! All this DOES reduce pollution, just as they advertise on the wrapping of the roll of toilet paper. The wrapping is great and the bath tissue is whitened without using bleach. I am very impressed. Predictably, this bath tissue is not just kinder to Mother Nature; it's easier on those of us who are sensitive to scents. It is hypoallergenic; and it is perfectly safe for toilet and septic systems just as Amazon notes above. Of course, there's always a limit to how much paper will go in one single flush down the toilet; but most people have an intuitive sense about this so it shouldn't be a problem. Of course, bath tissue never "goes stale," so if you catch a sale on this product stock up on it! The rolls can be stored in the package they come in; or you can store the rolls individually in various places throughout your home where they will be needed. Actually, there are some concerns. Seventh Generation bath tissue is comparatively expensive to most other brands of bath tissue. People on a budget may simply not be able to afford this product. Moreover, some people will protest the feel of this paper since, as I wrote above, it's not exactly Charmin soft. I'll take off one star for these two issues even though I personally like this very much. I know that in time Seventh Generation will figure out a way to make this product softer--and cheaper. Overall, if you don't mind the texture and the price, this is excellent bath tissue. I myself recommend it highly.
