Great Product November 22, 2006 Trevor J. Hawes (Erie, PA USA) 62 out of 62 found this review helpful
I don't share the previous reviewer's buying experience because I purchased this product at a local store. This is my first neti pot and I enjoy it, especially when I'm congested. It took a time or two learn how to use it properly. You need to tilt your head properly to prevent the water from pouring down your throat and out of your mouth and also to make use pain free. The pot also needs to be warmed up first, which is done simply by running warm water through it before use. Otherwise, you'll find that you've got cold water going through your nose despite putting in warm water at the tap. Make sure that you add a quarter teaspoon of kosher salt and use warm water. It makes use more comfortable. The neti pot does not work well when your sinuses are totally blocked. I usually pop a few Sudafed PE tablets, wait for a bit of decongestion to occure, and then neti. You'll be surprised what comes out of your nose! I only have to do this when I have a cold. Otherwise, I use it daily and my sinuses stay clean and clear.
I can Breathe Bette May 22, 2007 Aisha C. Kabia (West Hollywood) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
I was very septical at first. I saw the Neti Pot for the first time on the Oprah Winfrey show. I have seasonal allergies that I developed as an adult. After many tests I learned I was allergic to all things environmental. Certain trees, grass, mold, dust, pollen, perfum, etc. I've used Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, Benadryl, etc. And all have had some side effects, the most important one on my wallet I've found that I have gotten natural relief through the daily cleaning out my sinuses. And it feels great not to need a pill to breathe. Who knew cleaning my nose with warm water and a little salt was the solution. The drug companies know and would rather us use their products than this inexpensive natural way. I recommend this to anyone suffering from allergies. It is odd at first, but you'll get used to it and your body will thank you.
works great for me July 29, 2007 W. D. Dotson (Georgia) 34 out of 35 found this review helpful
I wrote the review shown below (again please note that I am not a medical doctor, and I recommend seeing one if you have sinus complaints) quite a while ago for the original Neti pot, and I recently purchased this "improved design" model. I can't tell any difference, other than in the way it looks, from the original Neti pot, so while I can't say I'd agree that it's been improved, I do still like to use it. I've been using it lately when I feel allergies coming on, and I feel like it helps more than medications I've tried. Anyway, I believe that what I said about the original Neti pot should be relevant to the newer model as well, so here it is: Be advised that I am not a medical doctor, despite the fact that my username begins with doc. I first tried using a Neti pot several years ago when I was suffering from really bad sinus congestion. The best prescripton decongestants were not helping me much, if any, over the course of several weeks but I got refills anyway and kept on suffering. A friend told me her mom had used a Neti pot for clearing her sinuses, and she said it worked better than anything else she had tried. So I got myself one, and have been using it ever since. I don't use it every day, but only when I feel like allergies are starting to bother me (some use it on a more regular basis than me, but since I don't know firsthand how helpful that is, I'll leave it to other reviewers to discuss). There is a decent description of how it is used in the product info above, so I won't go into that. It a little bit uncomfortable (or just plain feels weird at first), like when you get water up your nose while swimming, but the relief it gives has been well worth it in my opinion. Also the thought of warm saline going into one nostril and coming out the other can seem pretty gross to many people, but it's not too difficult to get used to. Overall I've found the process to be quick and easy, and it has relieved my symptoms very well. The bottom line is that it has helped me clear nasal congestion at times when nothing else seemed to be helping much, and I have been extremely impressed with the relief I have experienced after using it. Of course people still need to see their doctor for bad congestion and allergies, and if you are using a Neti pot I would let your doctor know that too (maybe bring the box to show them what you're talking about).
Snot Pot Drains a Lot May 25, 2007 BeatleBangs1964 (United States) 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
This little Godsend is ideal for nasal irrigation. I first became aware of it on May 22, 2007 when Dr. Oz had a guest do a demonstration with the Neti Pot on the Oprah! show. When I saw what it was capable of doing, I went out and bought one that same evening. This product is ideal for relieving sinus pressure/sinusitis; allergic rhinitis and any other reason for nasal blockage. The Neti Pot is simple to use. You fill it with 1 cup of lukewarm water; a 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized salt and stir until the salt dissolves. You then fill the freshly washed pot. Insert the spout into one nostril with your head tilted to one side. You will be amazed at the amount of nasal drainage. You refill the pot and repeat the process on the other side. Be sure to wash your pot out after each usage. I love my Neti Pot and cannot imagine how I managed without it.
Neti Pot HEALS! April 10, 2007 K. Fishman (San Francisco, CA) 20 out of 22 found this review helpful
THANK GOD relief from sinus pain FINALLY! Really easy to use, though I was scared at first it really is no big deal & well worth the results. My boyfriend uses it every day now because his work is a bit dirty, he likes to use it over the white porcelain sink to see the garbage that is coming out!!
