Shipment damage July 30, 2006 ARealAVFan (Acworth, GA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I ordered the Pecan Shortbread and the Chocolate Walnut cookies in July 2006. They were shipped in the same box. The Chocolate Walnut cookies arrived in perfect condition, but the Pecan Shortbread cookies were all broken up into little pieces, in all of the 6 individual boxes inside the case pack. I tried to return them online through my account login, but it says this item is not eligible for return. So I'll be phoning Amazon on Monday to figure out how to remedy this. Regarding the cookies themselves, I love the Pecan Shortbread cookies, and I've been buying them locally for about 4 years. I like them better when they're kept in the fridge, it just gives them a better crunch for my tastes. If you need to avoid gluten, these are a winner. I just hope the warehouse people stop giving these things the drop test... ;-)
My fave of wheat-free cookies! January 27, 2007 T. Bates (Port Orchard, Washington United States) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Summary: Peanut butter, plain: A bit "rubbery". I cooked them a little longer in microwave and added chips. ;^) Peanut butter, choc. chip: Crispy, crunchy, crumbly, rich and VERY addictive! (Yes, they always arrive broken up somewhat, but you won't care.)(Like other chip one, only 5 oz. box) Swirl shortbread: Too heavy and buttery for me. Nice texture. Choc. Chip shortbread: If you like shortbread, this will taste decadent! Rich choc. chips. Crispy and yes, also addictive! (Note: only 5 oz instead of 7 oz. box) Butter shortbread: Couldn't really eat these. Too heavy and buttery. Least favorite. Haven't tried others yet. I have a wheat allergy and never tasted shortbread again until I found these wonderful delights at the store in the health-food section! The shortbread choc chip I tried first has not only the unique taste of shortbread, but has chocolate chunks also! They are crunchy and light. In comparison, they weigh less than some other Pamela products. They are not as "buttery" as the Butter Shortbread or Swirl (a good thing in my opinion). I love the pecans also! Recommend to any wheat-allergy sufferer, or gluten intolerant person. :^)
bought these cookies to qualify for fee shipping!! October 2, 2006 toadhall (Ontario, Canada) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I just bought these cookies so I'd get free shipping on a couple of other items I wanted. WHAT A FIND. They are fantastic. I didn't realize I was getting a box of six boxes of TOP QUALITY, DELICIOUS cookies. We polished them all off in short order with lots of company at the cottage this summer. My husband was thrilled that they were organic, my brother and his wife found them a chocolate lovers delight, the grandkids gobbled them up, and I was astounded that they were gluten free and wheat free so I could enjoy them as well. We will all be ordering lots more.
Just Like Home-Baked! May 23, 2006 E. Donato (San Francisco, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was very pleasantly surprised when I first tasted one of these cookies! They were soft and tasty--much like my home-baked peanut butter cookies--only better since I tend to over-bake mine! I have many allergies so it's difficult for me to find pre-made cookies I can safely eat. Barley and corn starch, which I am very allergic to, find their way masked in many ingredients for pre-made food products. I was very glad to find the ingredients in these cookies are safe for me: Peanut Butter; Molasses; Eggs; Rice Syrup and Grape Juice; Flour Base (Brown Rice Flour, Wite Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch, Sweet Rice Flour, Xanthum Gum); Dry Roasted Peanut Pieces; Gluten-free Natural Flavor, Baking Soda; Sea Salt. With only 11g of carbohydrates, 7 g of sugar, and 3 g of protein, I can indulge with 2 for a mid-day snack without the guilt! If you are too busy to make home-baked cookies yourself, these are certainly a viable alternative...and they're quite healthy, too! Highly recommended!
Downright disgusting. June 20, 2006 IB (Oakland, CA United States) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I am a big fan of Pamela's Products. Their plain shortbread and pecan shortbread are incredible. So I was optimistic about the lemon shortbread cookies, since I'm a fan of everything lemon-flavored. These cookies were a) too sour, b) soggy, without the crumbly, buttery texture of real shortbread and c) they tasted like someone had sprayed Lemon Pledge furniture cleaner on regular shortbread, then sealed it in plastic while damp. Really, they were that gross. Not recommended.
