as I hatch June 1, 2007 My Uncle Stu (Boston) 27 out of 51 found this review helpful
This is a good product. Not that I'm an expert. However, you still need to pre-you're your dishes. As I near the end of my laborious run of Couvade Syndrome, I find my tolerance for certain things diminishing, and I just need to express this: I don't care how good your dishwasher is and I don't care how good your detergent is. You still have rinse the chunks off the plate or you end up just cooking food on in the dishwasher. Listen, I appreciate it when other people help with the dishes. But think about how the machine works a little. Get over your magical thinking. Placing dishes in the machine doesn't make them clean if there is still food stuck to them when you unload them. It is a miracle of modern life, but it is not science fiction. Just think about what you are doing and be a little observant, that's all I ask. Just venting. I'm sorry you had to hear that. But this is a good product. I like that it's eco-friendly and all the rest of that. It's a soap box standing on its soap box. By the way, there is a breakfast sandwich from a little deli where I used to live. I can't remember the name of the sandwich or the deli. But it was a couple eggs over medium, cheese, bacon, then an almost paper thin slice of red onion and a garlic mayo all on a toasted Kaiser roll. I can't remember the name, but I want you to know I'm thinking of you, and I know you are thinking of me too. That's all for now. Thank you for listening, bye bye.
$34.99 lasted six months but maybe Arm&Hammer would be just as effective July 9, 2006 Dwight (USA) 9 out of 12 found this review helpful
I switched to this because it's safe and unfancy but it didn't do as an effective cleaning my greasy pan. A consumer comparison show reported that the biodegradeable claim for this product is a marketing tool only. I am half way through the order so buying in bulk wasn't so bad for me. I hate having to go back to the store to replenish on nonperishables. Women spend 8 YEARS of their lives on grocery shopping unless they live in an eat out culture such as Thailand in which case they shop for something else. After I used up this product, I did not reorder.
Works GREAT and no chlorine bleach! September 7, 2006 Lisa Manske (Wauwatosa, WI USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I'm very pleased with this dishwasher detergent. Eight large boxes for a great price. It works very well for us. It doesn't leave any residue. My kids' plastic cups always tasted like detergent when they were washed in a national brand. Seventh Generation leaves no residue, doesn't release chlorine bleach into the air, and is much healthier for our family. I wouldn't use it if it didn't work because I'm too busy to wash dishes by hand, but it works great on top of everything else.
I've used this for over 5 years -- prefer to Cascade October 4, 2006 K. Butler (Balsam Lake, WI United States) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I try to be a good environmental consurmer, but I won't use a natural product that doesn't work. I've used Seventh Generation for over 5 years in a new dishwasher, and have had no problems. I have a septic system now, so I don't like to use bleach, but even when I lived in a city, I used this stuff. I've run out a couple times and had to use Cascade for a day or two (I live in the country -- they don't stock this stuff here) and my dishes were no cleaner than with 7th Gen. which is way better for people and the environment. I have read that dry dishwashing powder can get bad if it is old, so I only buy two boxes at a time. Perhaps the reviewers who've had problems are using old product. I think it absorbs moisture when stored under your sink, and may then clump in in your DW. I use vinegar in my rinse-aid container or Liquid Jet Dry.
Hard water? Don't bother. July 23, 2007 S 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This soap did not dissolve in our hard water. It left dirt and soap all over the dishes. I hate to waste an entire box of soap as well as the water to wash a load of dishes, but that's what happened. Ecover seems fine with the hard water.
