Be Warned: If You're on Coumadin (Warfarin) You Should Not Drink This Pomegranate Juice Product April 24, 2008 J Scott Morrison (Middlebury VT, USA) 18 out of 29 found this review helpful
First of all, let me say that I didn't find this pomegranate juice product to be particularly tasty. I had read about the supposed healthful value of pomegranate juice, but I guess, after I got the shipment from Amazon, I should have read the label before I drank the juice. Reason? Because it contains not only pomegranate juice (and grape juice, et al.), it also contains cranberry juice. Now, I have nothing against cranberry juice per se, and I don't even know how much is in this product. But I am taking Coumadin (warfarin), a blood thinner, and the FDA has issued a specific warning that people on warfarin should not eat cranberries or drink cranberry juice because it interferes with the action of the warfarin. Thus, I have two reasons not to recommend this product, at least for some people. First, it isn't all that tasty. And second, it could be harmful for people on blood-thinners. Scott Morrison
a better than soda option April 26, 2008 Paladin08 (Folsom, CA) 17 out of 26 found this review helpful
OK here is the skinny (pun intended) of this "healthier" choice product... When I thought of this apple product I couldn't help but think of comparing this to Martinelli's Sparling Cider. --------------------------------------- Martinelli's 8.4oz bottle contains: Pasteurized 100% Pure Carbonated Apple Juice From U.S. Grown Fresh Apples, Vitamin C, No Water or Alcohol, No Concentrates, No Sweeteners or Preservatives. Calories: 150 --------------------------------------- Izze's Sparkling Apple Juice, 8.4oz can contains 70% pure juice (white grape, apple and lemon) concentrates, sparkling water, natural flavor, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), niacinamide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (vitamin B6) Calories: 90 --------------------------------------- - Martinelli's is sweeter, whereas this is more of a tart apple flavor but it's good - Martinelli's is more heavily carbonated, whereas this is lighter almost to a fault, to where it taste flat if the drink isn't cold - 24, 8.4oz bottles of Martinelli's is approx $30, whereas this is 24, 8.4oz cans for around $22. I'm always excited about a cost savings. - I like being able to throw a can in my backpack vs. a bottle so I have something on-the-go. Also the can is lighter than bottle and I don't have to worry about finding broken glass in my backpack. - The vitamin content is only 10% of the recommended daily servers, per can. Thus, I'd rather take a multi-vitamin. - This is not an energy drink, but a sparking juice. So no substitute for that Starbuck's or Red Bull addiction OVERALL: After reading a ton of books on health & fitness, watching the TV show "The Biggest Loser" and having trained for a triathlon. . . This is a luxury vs. a need. You are better off drinking water and use those 90 calories to eat a couple of pieces of fruit, which is better for you and more satisfying. But, if you need an alternative to soda, this may be a good choice to ween yourself off the soda and eventually transition to water.
Refreshing and Flavorful April 26, 2008 prisrob (New EnglandUSA) 16 out of 25 found this review helpful
Izze All natural Sparkling Juice in 8 oz cans comes in an attractive can, although I prefer the bottles. It contains apple, grape, pomegranate, cranberry, pineapple, and lemon juices. The pomegranate flavor is the strongest but it is subtle. The cans advertise 70% natural juice and 30% sparkling water. It is a refreshing drink, and one I would buy. As a medical professional I am bothered by the potential Pomegranate-Drug interactions. Like grapefruit juice, those of us on medication need to look for information. It is best to check with your physician. The pomegranate is now immensely popular. Pomegranate juice is found in almost every grocery store in North America. There have been on-going research studies to prove that Pomegranate juice is helpful with cardiac disease, as an antioxidant and some forms of cancer. Please read the research with care. Whatever the case, pomegranate natural juice and sparkling water has a refreshing taste and flavor. The 8 oz. cans are convenient and when cold is one of the most refreshing drinks available. Recommended. prisrob 04-26-08
Izze - An awesome New Drink, Finally in a Can!!! April 21, 2008 Mark (NY, NJ, CT USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
Izze All Natural Sparkling Juice, Clementine, 8.4-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24) There are a lot of specialty soda bottlers in my area of the country, and when I saw the Izze bottled sampler packs last year I decided to give them a try. Well I'm glad I did, Izze is a great tasting product that will help to ease some of the guilt of drinking soda. It's cool that this is made with fruit juice and sparkling water, but that still means that there's plenty of sugar in here. I personally don't mind the fruit sugar, but some might. I have tried four of the five flavors here. Pomegranate and grapefruit were my favorites. Each tasted just like Orangina would if it were made from those fruit juices. Apple and blackberry were also good, but I definitely felt there might have been more sugary sweetness in those. Still, they are all good. I can't wait to try the Clementine next. These new cans mean that getting a subscription from Amazon is a more worry free proposition. The only negative I can give to these cans is that they are very small for me. Perhaps that is part of the health conscious marketing effort, and I'm sure it will be enough for many people. For me, I just feel like I have to drink two of these cans to get close to one beverage. Still there are plenty of cans in this case to last a while, and I'm sure subscribers are going to start coming in. Give it a try! Enjoy.
Great Tasting Clementine Soda and OK Apple April 24, 2008 M. A. Ramos (Florida USA) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
This sparkling fruit juice has a slightly sweet-sour soda taste of Clementine juice. It is like Tangerine juice mixed with sparkling water and a touch of sugar. The first four ingredients listed White Grape, Apple, Lemon and Orange Juice that gives it its taste. I do like that the cans are small, they contain only 8.4oz/248ml of sparkling Clementine. It is just the right amount to satisfy your taste for the flavor for its 80 calories. Then I just go back to my usual drink, water. The blackberry is very good as well, but the apple for my taste was only a 3 star drink. An Average Apple Flavored Drink: This sparkling fruit juice has a slightly sweet-sour soda taste of fruit juice. It is like Lemon-Apple juice mixed with sparkling water and a touch of sugar. The first three ingredients listed White Grape, Apple and Lemon Juice that gives it its taste. I did not find this to have a refreshing apple taste. I do like that the cans are small, they contain only 8.4oz and 90 calorie sparkling the sparkling juice. But if I were to buy one it would not be the Sparkling Apple. Overall with the three flavors I have tried, I would rate this 4-stars now.
