I ordered a five ounce tub of the gold shea butter. I love the smell- kind of smoky and a little bit feral, but very mild- and it has the perfect consistency of a fat-based product that isn't "vaseliney" or lardlike. My evil German Shepherd liked it, too- she ate an entire five ounce tub of it. On the bright side (and miraculously), she suffered no ill effects from it except for a stern talking-to from me. I then ordered a larger tub of the gold, and a five-ounce tub of the white, and I love them both. You have to be careful (aside from keeping it out of the dog's reach) not to drop the little globs of shea butter on your clothing- it is a fat and will leave a greasy print if you let it. Here in Arizona, the humidity is currently very low- any moisturizer you put on after a morning shower is gone by the afternoon unless you put on a shea butter film afterward. This is a product I hope I never have to do without again.
Wonderful for dry skin but application is time-consuming December 30, 2007

I was looking for something natural to ease my dry skin in my dry, windy climate. This product is completely odorless, makes rough, dry hands & feet silky smooth, and last quite a while without reapplication. But I have a rushed routine and it takes time to get this product to a workable stage. It comes in a big blob with lots of smaller "chips" which must be worked, kneaded and warmed in your hands before it can be smoothly applied. I love it on my hands, feet and elbows, and during especially dry nights, I've patted some on my forehead and undereye lines. It's not greasy or pore-clogging and I wake to smooth, supple skin. I give this 4 stars instead of 5 simply because it's rather time consuming for my busy morning and nighttime schedules. I bought the 8 oz. tub and since not much is needed unless you've applying it over your entire body, it'll last a long time. Shipping was extremely fast and I believe it's a great deal for the price.
