Hands down best sunblock on the market February 1, 2007 Patrick D. Goonan (Pleasanton, CA) 28 out of 33 found this review helpful
My education I'm a biochemist and I was also a physiology teaching fellow in a university. As such, I have a fair amount of knowledge about chemistry, the body, etc. When my dermatologist recommended this sunscreen, he cited some studies about how SPF15-30 in practice washes off or wears off and doesn't offer adequate protection. He recommended at least SPF 50 and specifically this product. My experience using this sunscreen is that you don't even know you have it on. It doesn't have a detectable smell and it is very sheer. However, this sunscreen stays on, is waterproof and doesn't block your pores. It guards against BOTH UvA and UvB and the Helioplex technology is a hit with dermatologists. I highly recommend this product and think it's totally worth the cost.
Great product, but can hurt when applied around eyes July 18, 2006 sansu (Austin, TX United States) 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I really like this sunscreen. The UVA/UVB protection is so important, and most sunscreens only block UVA. The lotion goes on feeling like a regular greasy sunscreen, but it disappears rapidly into the skin and it truly doesn't feel greasy at all once it dries. I am not sure how or why, but I swear it also evens out my skintone. I do recommend applying a light coat of your regular moisturizer around the eyes first, as I find this sunscreen can sting when put on the delicate skin under the eyes. I made the mistake of slathering it on over my eyelids once, and I wouldn't recommend that you do that. I found when I sweated, the sunblock crept into my eyes. Ouch. So just don't apply it over the eyes and you should be fine. Anyway, great product.
I LOVE IT! June 30, 2006 T. Clement (Ca) 15 out of 20 found this review helpful
I love the idea of wearing sunblock. Most of the ones I have tried for my face all smell gross. This one does not. It doesn't have a smell at all. I love it! I had heard about it and decided to try it. It goes on smooth and doesn't feel greasy like a lot of sunscreens do. It dries right away. I just ran out and heard they have some at Costco so I am going to go check it out.
AMAZING, light-weight protection! July 7, 2006 T. Nakamoto (Long Beach, CA) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
I am currently using Tazorac, a retinoid, which casuses hyper-photosensitivity. My dermatologist gave me a sample of the SPF 55 Ultra Sheer and it has been fantastic! Usually, it seems the higher the SPF, the thicker the lotion (and the more likely it is to leave a white film on your skin). Not this one! It aborbs cleanly and you don't even feel it! My healing blemishes faded and didn't brown or darken and best of all this sunscreen does not cause break outs on my super-sensitive skin.
Best sunscreen ever? May 2, 2007 Jaewoo Kim (Santa Monica, CA) 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
First, there is a newer SPF 70 version (which I haven't tried yet), which should provide even more protection than this. Second, there is no such thing as a perfect sunscreen. If you must not get a tan, then stay indoors, I am an avid golfer in California and stay in the sun for extended hours. In fact, golfers gets more exposure to the sun than sunbathers because we are out for so long (4-5 hours). I have tried most SPF 45+ sunscreen in the market, including LA ROCHE's Mexoryl based sunscreen Anthelios, which has been considered as the best in the world (I also wrote a review on it). This sunscreen beats them all in terms of pure sun protection. During light sunny days, I hardly notice any sunburns even after 4-5 hours of golfing. I do notice some sunburns during really intensely hot days due to the blazing sun. Please note, I put on AMPLE amounts of sunscreen (recommended by Neutrogena). Please do not use skimpy amounts and expect it to protect you (this is recommended only if you want to get a tan without getting excessive burns). It is also sweat resistent. So it does not wear off easily at all. Its real negative is that it stings your eyes as if someone poked it with a toothpick. If you thought SPF 30 burns your eyes, your should try this one because it DOES hurt almost twice as much. It temporarily blinds you in agony. So please do not apply it over your eyes or your forehead. Instead, wear a hat.
