Famtastic Hair Cleanser May 20, 2005 Jeanne M. Bartnicki (North of Boston, MA) 55 out of 56 found this review helpful
WEN is a rather different hair cleanser (note I didn't say shampoo). As the name states, it's a cleansing conditioner - you massage it into your hair, leave on for 3-5 minutes and rinse for 1-3 minutes. I got the Sweet Almond Mint and my scalp felt wonderfully tingly. There is no lather and that did take a bit of getting used to, but that's such a minor thing. WEN has made my hair shiny, soft and manageable, and for the first time in ages I don't have hair in my comb after shampooing. The customer service is fantastic and the shipping is fast. The price may seem a bit steep, but you'd pay that or more if you bought another high end shampoo and condioner separately. WEN comes in a pump bottle and is very condensed with a nice creamy texture. I think I've finally found the perfect shampoo! (err...conditoning cleanser).
WORST HAIR PRODUCT I EVER TRIED April 9, 2008 Scott Rambova (New York) 22 out of 45 found this review helpful
I wrote a review for this about ten days ago, and looked for it on line today. Not here. Interesting. Apparently, it was so honest, it seemed to have....disappeared. And not the first time. I noticed maybe twice before, when I wrote a review, if it is contrary, it just does not show up. Anyone else experience that? In any case, I am trying again. As my title says: this is the worst hair product I believe I have ever, ever used. EVER. I mean that 100%. It is exactly--repeat---EXACTLY the same as washing your hair in or with just water. No different. My hair was lifeless, dry, dull, thin, worse than it ever looked. I followed the directions. I tried it...once...twice. Same horrendous outcome both times. Like washing your hair in only water--no shampoo----nothing but water. Same result. Garbage is mild to describe this crap. You want flat, limp, fly away and thin hair, use this...or wash with only water. This is pure garbage.
Skeptic turned Believer April 16, 2008 B. Gallagher (Remsenburg, NY United States) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I was so totally skeptical at first! I bought this cleansing conditioner along w/ the Wen styling cream. The first time I used the cleanisng conditioner, I thought that it's creamy formula would not leave my hair feeling clean. Wrong on the first account. My hair felt very clean after thoroughly rinsing it out. Next, I was certain that it would be so heavy that my hair would not acheive it's usual style and volume that I normally get. Wrong again. I got the same look with the stying creame that I got every day when I used to use gel. So then, I figured that no way would my style last all day. Wrong again. 10 PM rolls around and my hair looks just as good as it did in the morning. I am a skeptic turned believer. Not only that, but as I used the round brush to blow out my hair it ran through smoothly without the usual tugging that I get with the gel. My hair is so soft now, I can't stop running my fingers through it. I love the way my hair feels with this product. But the final test? I drive a convertible car and after a long drive on the expressway I was able to brush my hair out pretty easily without the usual tearing and pulling with the paddle brush. I can't say enough about how much I love this product. I have been using it for a while and my hair is showing no signs of dulling or build up. It works as well today as it did on day one. I have found my new favorite way of cleansing/conditioning my hair. P.S. To help you decide if my review is helpful, here's a description of my hair type: chin length bob, long layers, not too coarse/thick and not too fine/thin just sort of average, color treated (highlights), blow drier every day, flat iron rarely. Before using this and the styling cream I used TiGi Dumb Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner, Tresseme Heat Protect Spray Conditioner, TiGi Power Trip Gel, Fekkai Glossing Cream and TiGi Maximum Shine Hair Spray. At the time I would've described my hair as "fried". Now I would describe it as soft and shiny.
Not for hair without natural body April 3, 2008 Outer Assignment (SouthEast, USA) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
Bummer. Neither the almond nor cucumber formulas, which are recommended for fine hair, worked for my hair, which has little natural body. These formulas made my hair beautifully shiny but so flat that it looked like I had slicked my hair down with a heavy gel. Yes, I followed the directions. Yes, I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. I also tried using less formula, but that didn't work either. On the other hand, the almond formula worked great for my son, whose hair has loads of natural body and is somewhat curly. He's asked me to reorder the product for him, which I'll do.
Fine hair: don't bother! November 27, 2007 Elena Bunin (putnam valley, ny United States) 17 out of 25 found this review helpful
I have fine slightly wavy hair. After using this product for the first time today i don't see any difference from if i'd use a regular conditioner (which i never do because it makes my hair look even thinner). My hair has NO BODY whatsoever and feels even lighter than usual, flying around like feathers. Maybe i have to use the product for a while to get full benefits but somehow i don't think so. I guess if you have thick unruly mane, this product might help keep it under control, give you the "smooth/sleek" look (but so will regular conditioner, won't it?) but for those of us who are cursed with fine hair and constantly searching for some product that can make our hair appear fuller, WEN cleansing conditioner IS NOT THE "CURE".
