Works for what I want from it March 18, 2008 Nathan Andersen (Florida) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'm not a doctor, and can't give medical advice. I don't know exactly what the ingredients in Ripped Fuel do to my body -- all I can say is that taking one in the morning makes me feel like I've had a powerful energy drink without the calories that usually come with it. No pill is going to give you long term weight loss without exercise and dieting. Having said that, I've found that when I've worked on weight loss with exercise and dieting I often reach a plateau where I don't see any gains. That's when something like Ripped Fuel is most beneficial -- it just adds a boost of energy that can push performance up a bit, get you working harder and assisting you in the process of making longer lasting the natural acceleration of metabolism that comes from aerobic exercise and from increased muscle mass due to strength training. I've tried a few non-ephedra based supplements like this one, and as far as I can tell this one is superior to most of the others I've tried. Things I've read support that as well. Once again, I'm not a doctor and haven't done anymore than try this one for a few weeks, so anything I say about it is purely anecdotal. So far what I can say is that it seems to boost my energy levels and that motivates me to get out there and exercise and makes it easier to focus on foods that meet my needs rather than give me jolts of carbohydrate energy. As far as I'm concerned, you can't really ask for more. Plus, these are cheaper than energy drinks (and their effects seem to last longer).
Check With Your Doctor - Mixed Review January 26, 2008 Martin A Hogan (San Francisco, CA.) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Friends at my gym swear by "Ripped Fuel", but my personal experience has been mixed. I don't need to lose weight and found that it made me feel jittery even when taking one pill a day. There is enough caffeine in it for the manufacturer to suggest you limit other caffeine intake. But there is so much good stuff in it; I had to do some research on the major ingredients. Below is what I discovered and everything sounds healthy and productive for losing weight in a healthy manner. I hope it is helpful. Thiamine: Plays an important role in helping the body metabolize carbohydrates and fat to produce energy. It is essential for normal growth and development and helps to maintain proper functioning of the heart and the nervous and digestive systems. Thiamine is water-soluble and cannot be stored in the body; however, once absorbed, the vitamin is concentrated in muscle tissue. Niacin: When taken in large doses, blocks the breakdown of fats in adipose tissue, thus altering blood lipid levels. Niacin is used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia because it reduces very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), a precursor of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or "bad" cholesterol. Pyridoxine: Assists in the balancing of sodium and potassium as well as promoting red blood cell production. It is linked to cardiovascular health by decreasing the formation of homocysteine. It has been suggested that Pyridoxine might help children with learning difficulties, and may also prevent dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis. In addition, pyridoxine can help balance hormonal changes in women and aid in immune system. Lack of pyridoxine may cause anemia, nerve damage, seizures, skin problems, and sores in the mouth. B-12: 833% is plenty. Calcium: Good for bone structure in the body. Chromium picolinate: Some commercial organizations promote chromium picolinate as an aid to body development for athletes and as a means of losing weight. Cayenne: Is a medicinal and nutritional herb. It is a very high source of Vitamins A and C, has the complete B complexes, and is very rich in organic calcium and potassium, which is one of the reasons it is good for the heart. Rhodiola rosea: Is effective for improving mood and alleviating depression. Russian research shows that it improves both physical and mental performance, reduces fatigue, and prevents high-altitude sickness. Rhodiola rosea should be taken early in the day because it can interfere with sleep. If a user becomes overly activated, jittery or agitated, dosage should be decreased. Bottom line is take with care and ask your physician about any supplements.
Some Good Ingredients -- With Some Hype February 7, 2008 Kort Kramer (South Florida, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Thank you Martin for your breakdown of what is in these pills and their effect on the body. Yes, the contents for the most part are "thought" to promote weight loss or otherwise promote good overall physical health. In that respect, if you are trying to get ripped or just be healthy, this couldn't hurt (though you should check with a physician as I am not one). On the other hand, if you are already exercising properly and eating right, then you probably don't NEED to take this. I recently lost over 25 lbs through diet and exercise alone, without taking any expensive metabolic enhancers. Sure, I ate more food that help keep the metabolism going and upped my activity level to give the 'ol metabo a boost, but that was it. Would taking Ripped Fuel 5X have sped up the process or made it easier? Perhaps, but 25 lbs in 3 months is about as fast as anyone should lose weight anyhow. I started 5X these after my weight loss and have not lost any more weight. I continue to eat sensibly, exercise, drink lots of water and get as much sleep as my schedule will allow (thanks for the list Robin Simmons). They have a pleasant cinnamon/herbal scent/taste before you wash them down. I noticed no side effects, no increase in energy. So while I can say that 5X has not made any big difference for me, it may for you. It couldn't hurt, right? Just ask yourself, is it worth 41 a dose (or less and a buck a day) w/ Amazon's refill program))? If your answer is YES, then go for it. I personally will be sticking the lifestyle that helped me drop my extra weight. BTW, exercise right in the morning and you raise your metabolism for the rest of the day.
Easy, Convenient, But be Careful January 23, 2008 Greling C. Jackson Jr. (Atlanta) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is an excellent and effective substitute for Ephedra, which the FDA banned a little while ago because it was causing people to die from heart attacks. It is an improvement on the earlier Ripped Fuel product in that you only have to take 2 tablets and no longer 6 or 9. It will make you lose weight if used properly. I just say use it with caution. This product contains both generous amounts of caffeine and chromium picolinate, which will temporarily raise your blood pressure and increase insulin sensitivity. If you are a diabetic or are taking heart medications you should speak to your doctor first. I lost a bit weight within the first week of using this products. The effects are seen immediately, but much of that is due to a loss of water weight. Because of its caffeine content, this product will dry you, so I recommend that you drink plenty of water when you take it. I also think it wise to take it AFTER you exercise and not before, because it will increase your heart rate a bit and you probably don't want to stroke out while running a marathon or anything like that. Overall, an excellent product, just be careful with it and be patient. The results will soon appear. Many diet pills are just gimmicks that don't work but this stuff really does help increase your metabolism to help you lose weight. I'd definitely give it a try if you have the chance.
Where's the extra energy? February 3, 2008 Joseph P. Ulibas (Sacramento, CA, USA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been trying this TwinLab metabolic accelerator for almost two weeks now and I haven't really noticed any change. It's supposed to boost my metabolism and give me extra energy. But so far I haven't felt any difference. The pills are quite bitter and you better have a giant glass of water to take these because they will get stuck in your throat. Maybe they work and I haven't noticed yet. I wouldn't buy these or recommend them. I get more zip from a plain black cup of coffee.
