Talking Clock August 15, 2006 Cathy B. (USA) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I ordered a talking clock for my dad who recently had a stroke. The stroke affected his vision. I was able to mail it directly to him. He has enjoyed his new talking clock. It has meant a lot to him.
Best alarm clock ever. October 10, 2006 D. P. Bostaph (Murfreesboro, TN United States) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have very poor vision. I also live in an area where power can go off at night. So, I wanted an alarm clock that 1)Tells the time by talking to me, & 2)Is battery powered. This fits the bill nicely. I've had this one since the early 90's, & it's never failed me.
Large Tap and Talk button January 3, 2007 Sharon P. Perkins (Cincinnati, Oh USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Received this for my dad. Although he is legally blind he is able to see shadows. He has enough mental acuity to know he has to focus to see the large button and Tap it for the time. Occasionally he will tap one the setting (smaller) mode buttons. Therefore, the clock will need to be EASILY RESET to get it out of the mode that he accidently set it. Great clock, Large Tap and Talk button. Great talking clock for the visually impaired person that also has the mental acuity and physical agility to use alarm and other features easily. Clear, loud female voice. NOTE: Would love it better if talking clocks could be made in deep male voice because as we loose our hearing the higher pitch sounds fade first.
Has NO Snooze button feature April 4, 2007 Boston Bookworm (USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
A logical person would think that "alarm clock" implies that it has a snooze unless disclosed otherwise. Unfortunately in these days of cheap, low quality products "made in China" logic does not prevail. This is disingenuous to not disclose the absence of a snooze button. C'mon, that's like a car without brakes! It's downright dishonest to not disclose. But perhaps I am too old fashioned to expect honesty. After all, caveat emptor! This is good for what it is: a talking clock where you can listen to the time by hitting a big button ... that happens to have an alarm. I was looking for a talking alarm with snooze (a feature as basic to an alarm clock as brakes are to a car). Now I have to decide .. do I spend the $ to return it or keep it, unused, rather than waste time and money on the return. What the other reviewer mentions about it being easy to mess up by hitting the wrong (small) buttons is possible, but easily fixed. Probably more a problem for someone with limited manual dexterity who lives alone. A blind person with good manual dexterity or someone who has a sighted person to help would probably not find this problem that big a deal. There is a volume adjustment (slider, not a knob or dial) that is better designed--will not be easy to accidentally change.
Perfect for the Blind January 9, 2007 Michal Lubin 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The curve talking clock is easy to handle and easy to use. It is particularly useful for the blind who cannot use a braille clock or watch. Unfortunately, the clock is not waterproof, and when some water spilled on it, it ceased to function and could not be repaired. We then had to purchase a new one. Waterproofing the talking clock would be a big asset.
