I couldn't resist getting just one of these bowls. It is just as pretty as I imagined. Be warned: because this bowl is porcelain, anything hot like soup will make the bowl too hot to handle unlike the Bodum rice and noodle bowls and the melamine bowls.
Is this frugal? no but I needed new bowls and the tactile experience has been superior to everything else I own
Would I have purchased this used at a cheaper price off of craigslist? no
Did I shop around for the best total price including the manufacturer's website? yes and so should you

Amazon site claims the size as
Product Dimensions: 12.3 x 9.4 x 6.9 inches
But in reality nothing is 12.3 inches. Diameter on top is about 5.5 inches.
I am returning this product.

I think these are a gorgeous compliment to the rest of the plates, bowls..etc. They are a perfect size for rice, soup, ice cream...anything~
