Product Description Double Wall Clear Glass / 9 Ounce Capacity Each / Set of 2 / Holds warm and cold beverages
Amazon.com Review With futuristic looks and high-tech construction, Bodum's Pavina drinkware makes an exciting departure from traditional glassmaking. The walls of each vessel are crafted from two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Softening the look, Pavina's shapes feature smooth, rounded silhouettes. The inner wall also curves slightly away from the outer wall for a touch of understated elegance. This set of two double old fashioned/tumbler glasses serves anything from minty mojitos to hot cocoa. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 9-ounce, scratch-resistant set also goes into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Pavina with the Assam and Canteen lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

excellent product, surprisingly sturdy April 10, 2006 Amalfi Coast Girl (Mid-Atlantic, USA) 85 out of 89 found this review helpful
I purchased these after seeing them on the Bodum.com website. I admit the cool factor lured me in. The cups maintain the temperature of a cappuccino for as long as it takes me to get to the bottom of the cup. Additionally it is nice not to need coasters (especially if you have men or children in the home). The 9 oz cup is less than 4 inches tall, making it fit perfectly under the fill spout of my super-automatic Saeco espresso machine (which I also love). My husband and I have had 4 of these cups for more than 6 months and not one of them has broken. I mention this because the 9 oz cups seem to be much more sturdy than the 21 oz Pavina ice tea glasses. We broke one of the 21 oz cups with the first ice cube that went into the cup. We broke 2 others in the first two weeks. Bottom line, I cannot recommend the 21 oz Pavina. However, the 9 oz Pavina cups are very tough, having survived 6 months of daily use with less than dainty owners. I think you will be very pleased with your purchase of the 9 oz Pavina cups. UPDATE: JULY 18, 2006 All 4 of the 9 ounce Pavina mugs are still intact even with frequent use. I continue to recommend this product.
Buyer beware, these fill with water! February 13, 2007 Frank Rust (Los Angeles, CA USA) 34 out of 42 found this review helpful
I bought four of these, and loved the way they looked--BEFORE I washed them. There is a very small hole on the bottom of every glass, left over from the glass blowing process I presume. Water seeps *INTO* the glasses through this hole and fills the inside of the glass with dirty dishwater--not a good look. I've washed them by hand and ran them through the dishwasher, problem persists. Not only is it gross, but since the hole is on the bottom, when you set the glasses down they slowly leak! I found this out AFTER one had been placed on the wooden shelf of my bar. Too bad this fundamental flaw--so easily fixed--was overlooked by a company so proud of its design.
Form AND Function -- Not as Fragile as others Claim! December 10, 2005 studio_nine (New York, NY) 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
I bought 4 of these tumblers about 6 months ago. I use them daily and love them! I'm not overly careful while using the glasses yet none have broken. I find them to be quite resilient and very beautiful (especially when filled with coffee). I expect that the reviewers who gave them poor reviews were careless with them and, therefore, should stick to acrylic tumblers. Please keep in mind that these are GLASS and not indestructible before posting negative reviews. Glass (borosilicate or not) does tend to break when dropped or when metal objects are dropped onto it!
Not all they're cracked up to be October 18, 2005 Avid Shopper (SoCal) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
A wonderful concept that needs more work. These glasses look wonderful and they feel great in your hand. However, they are very fragile; one of mine broke on the inside by merely dropping ice from the ice maker into it. And, they do sweat ~~ just not as readily as regular glasses. I would not buy them again.
not quite what you'd expect December 1, 2006 M. Yang (washington dc) 9 out of 14 found this review helpful
pros: 1. nicely designed. 2. actually keeps cold beverages cold, and hot beverages hot. cons: 1. they break way too easily. the glass is extremely thin and flimsy 2. the bodum logo on the bottom is a bit of an eye sore 3. the lip of the cup is inconsistent all around. its a bit thick and clumsily fused together-which you can tell when you put your mouth to the cup. it lacks a certain quality that makes it a finely/well made item.
