Product Description Winner of the European iF Design Award, the Canteen double wall glasses can be use the whole year round. You can use them for your cold drinks in summer and hot drinks in winter. They are made of a very strong but yet light weight glass (borosilicate glass). They can safely go in the dishwasher and microwave. No coaster needed. Bodum's insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass that weighs less than traditional glassware. Used to make scientific lab glass, borosilicate glass (medical grade glass) is stronger than traditional "soda-lime" glass and can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Some people may perceive the glass to be "thin" as they hold it. It is important to understand the difference between borosilicate and soda lime glass. Borosilicate glass doesn't need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is dishwasher safe and will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 100 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Simply treat it as you would any glass product and it will stand up to every day use. Dishwasher & microwave safe.Bodum insulated, double wall glass i
Amazon.com Review Drawing on modern technology and innovative design, Bodum's Canteen collection puts a new twist on everyday drinkware. The walls of each vessel are hand blown with two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Cut in slightly tapered, clean lines, they have an almost futuristic appeal that emphasizes the relationship of form and function. This set of two double wall cooler/beer glasses serves anything from chilled lagers to hot cider. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 7-ounce, scratch-resistant set goes safely into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Canteen with the Pavina and Assam lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara Karll Editor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

Nice Glasses, but FRAGILE October 25, 2005 Crystalsphere (Indiana) 37 out of 39 found this review helpful
My set of 2 is down to 1 with a slight tap on the sink while cleaning it -- just a note to others that these glasses are Extremely fragile. In my opinion, the glass should be thicker to allow for everyday bumps ...especially after you've had a few beers while watching the game.
Returning Broken Glasses for Credit December 5, 2005 A. Gordon Pym (Nantucket, of course) 31 out of 40 found this review helpful
Why would anyone rate these glasses more than 1 star if Amazon is refusing to credit for those broken in shipment?
Too fragile; even hand-washing allows water inside walls February 9, 2007 lawyerwhocooks (Atlanta, GA USA) 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
In my never-ending need to own fancy things, I foolishly bought these glasses when they were first released, for even more than they cost now (although they are still expensive). Folks, please stick with plastic insultated glasses! I know that plastic is tacky, but some things are just more trouble than they are worth. You WILL BREAK these glasses, no matter how hard you try not to, so maybe its a good deal that Amazon is presently offering a deal on them. In short: these glasses are easier to break than my Riedel Bordeaux glasses (in other words, FRAGILE); the glasses allow water to seep into the small hole on the bottom during hand washing, which is ugly (the tiny hole on the bottom of the glass prevents the glass from cracking due to rapid temperature changes); and dropping ice into the glasses or using too hot or cold a beverage will crack them. The only upside is they look nice for awhile (until water seeks in, or a hair line crack appears). My first set was crushed in shipment. Amazon had not wrapped it in bubble wrap or anything else, and the Bodum box is severely lacking in built-in protection. Amazon DID ship new ones right away. Save yourself the trouble of worrying about and dealing with these glasses! Pretty enough for awhile, you will find yourself so worried about ruining these expensive glasses that you will sit them on your shelves and simply stare at them. I really am sorry to say this... I don't give many negative reviews, and I generally like Bodum products.
great glasses bad customer service September 15, 2005 Robert c. Pollard (St. Augustine, FL USA) 28 out of 30 found this review helpful
The insulated glassed are great. The first shipment was poorly packed and two of the four glasses were broken. I returned the broken glassed and immediately received new unbroken glasses. Now a month later Amazon says I didn't return the glasses and there are going to double bill me.

I have ordered a hald dozen of these glasses and they inevitably come broken. I never credit for the returns, Amazon makes great profit, horrible service.
