Amazon.com Review The Shake `N Go does just what it implies, allowing you to mix homemade salad dressing to transport to a picnic, make an instant breakfast drink to take to work, or shake up lemonade crystals and water for a refreshing drink during a bike ride. The container has a maximum capacity of 16 fluid ounces and measurement marks for easily mixing various quantities of liquid ingredients. A tight-fitting twist-on lid ensures that you can shake vigorously without spilling and a handy pop-top lets you take sips without removing the entire lid or pour without dripping. This shaker is dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. --Cristina Vaamonde

Somewhat useful, but annoying. August 23, 2005 Grass Tiger (Wadsworth, IL United States) 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
This is a fairly handy item to have around if you need to mix up protein drinks and the like. The problems I have with it are that if you don't pre-stir the mixture powder gets into the lid parts and is very difficult to clean out. (The lid is attached to the top.) It is difficult to clean the lid because it partly doubles back on itself when you open it and you can't clean all of it when it is closed. Trying to get anything in there to clean it is difficult at best. Also, because the drink gets into the the lid when you shake it, when you go to drink out of the opening in the top it drips on you! It is better to take the top off and drink from the side. I've found that if I'm going to have to stir it anyway and can't drink it with the lid on - why bother! But, that said, the measurement markings on the side are very useful if you need a certain amount of liquid and don't want to dirty a measuring cup as well and because it does have a lid you can take this with you. It seals pretty well and I've not had it leak. What makes this cup a "mixer" is that there is a round insert with spokes like a wheel that sets in the top of the bottom part and is mostly held in place when you screw the top on. I think this does help it mix some. I've found this cup at Whole Foods, so if you have one near you, you may want to ask about getting it there. It isn't really worth paying the shipping costs on this item.
careful, it may leak February 17, 2006 Angel G. Taveras 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
It has a terrible desing flaw. I use it to mix and carry protein shakes. I put the powder in, put the cap on and when i am ready put the milk or water, shake and drink. Too good to be rated 2 stars, isn't it? well that was the good. The bad is: the tread that hold the cap is inside the conteiner so when you mix, the mixture go thru the tread (it doesn't look nice), and it's supposed to be hold in by a clear tiny silicon-like band that is attached to the cap. If you tighten the cap too much, the band will be squeezed out of position and leak. If you do not tighten it enough the band won't seal and leak. Another thing, maybe not as important as the above, is that it is little uncomfortable to drink directly from the bottle, the lid keep closing everytime. So before you make your decision analize carefully. Despite all that.... It mixes, when you get it right(until the band break) and spray eventually
Simple shaker, but does the trick. January 26, 2007 Geoffrey (Rochester, Minnesota) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I frequently use a Tupperware shaker to make gravies, pancake mixes, and purify my protein shakes. My Tupperware shaker is always in the dirty dish pile, so I found this, and it is similar in design for a much lower price. There are gradiations on the side for measurement (up to 16 oz), and there is a straining disk inside, which facilitates the mixing process and gets the lumps out of your sauces and drinks. I would recommend putting a splash of liquid in the bottom of the container before putting any protein or health-food powder in for mixing. If you put all the powder in first, it seems like there are remnants of the mix that get stuck to the bottom. I've found that if you put just a splash of liquid, then your powder, then the rest of your liquid, that you get a good mix without powder wasted at the bottom of the cup.
Great Little Shaker! September 24, 2006 Busy Traveler (Orlando, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Can't believe the complaints about this great little shaker! I have several of them, and I use them all the time at home and away. Mine don't leak or drip, and I have no trouble screwing the top on. They fit in the drink holders in cars without being top-heavy when standing alone, and they are easy to rinse out. For my powdered shakes, I put in 8 oz. water, using the handy measuring marks, spoon in the powder, and drop in some ice cubes. I lay the spokey-wheel part on top of all that (inside the shaker), and then screw on the top. As with any screw-on top, if you first turn it in the opposite direction after you put the top on, the threads line up properly so you can screw the top on easily and tightly. If you make sure the flip top is down securely, there should be no leaks when you shake it. I insert a straw in the pour spout for drinking shakes, because they are are always thick and drippy. That way there is absolutely no mess. If dry powder sticks in any of the crevices of the top, a quick swish with my dish brush takes care of it. I even take my shaker with me when I travel on business trips to mix and drink water with flavored powders, meal-replacement shakes, and cold drinks in the spa on a quiet evening at the hotel after a long day. I often take an extra along because when my friends see it, they want one too!
Works well if you know the tricks November 26, 2006 L. Tesler (Menlo Park, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm with Busy Traveler. It takes a little practice to get the lid threads on right and to tighten it just the right amount. But after a few uses, I found it became automatic. And with some powders, it does seem to work best to put in the liquid first, then the powders, and finally the spoked wheel. I used to have drips when drinking from the top with the lid above my nose. The solution was to rotate the bottle ninety degrees so the lid was on one side. Grass Tiger mentioned cleaning difficulties. It cleans up easily for me if I wash it with hot water from a kitchen sink sprayer and dish soap immediately after I use it. If I wait to clean it and crud cakes on, I carefully squeeze the lid at the hinge and remove it to easily access every recess for cleaning. But I did this too often with one shaker and the lid eventually lost its grip, so now I always clean it right away. I've also tried the Vitaminder Power Shaker, which garnered better reviews. I used one at the office while using my Zyliss at home. The Vitaminder worked better at first. But after a dozen uses, the spoked wheel--which goes into the lid, not the bottle like the Zyliss--lost its grip, making it hard to reassemble; the screw-on top sometimes popped off; if I left the top on while agitating the insides with soapy water, the top became stuck and very hard to remove. So I just ordered another Zyliss. This gets four stars not five because the instructions that come with it are inadequate, and it is a finicky gadget. But for under ten bucks, I was willing to meet it half way and am now quite satisfied.
