Awesome Orb!!! November 12, 2008 J Marcus 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Love it! I had no problem getting the ice out. Sure, it's different. That's why I actually read and followed the directions. Highly recommend!!! JM
Great Ice Cubes November 12, 2008 DYC 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
"Awesome evolution to the age old drudgery of getting ice cubes out of a tray, which is never easy. What a cool idea for keeping my wine cool at my holiday party. I love this vessel"
So Disappointed! November 5, 2008 Kathryn A. Lacny (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am so disappointed! I ordered one of these for myself and 2 for gifts because it looked like such a cool product. On the fusion brands website, there is a short video showing how the product works. They make it look so easy - and it's not! After you pour water into the container, it is so hard to get the "inside cup" snapped in. Then, after the water freezes, it is impossible to remove the inside cup to get the cubes out. The inside cup sticks to the "outside cup". I was so excited to use this cool ice cube tray, and now I can't open it to get the ice out!
Cool concept, terrible product November 6, 2008 hunca-munca (New York, NY) looked cool, fell for the promo video--but the thing does not work. Water gets caught underneath (does not push up) no matter if you fill exactly to the line, underfill, etc, so the unit totally freezes up and you cannot open it and get the ice out. Not helping are the tiny pull tabs (bad design) which no adult fingers can grasp (I broke two nails trying to pry off) Running under hot water defeats the purpose but gets the ice out. Terrible product.
Great Idea - Useless Product November 7, 2008 Karl Draney (San Diego, CA USA) I almost never buy anything without reading reviews. Unfortunately, when I purchased The Ice Orb there weren't any reviews yet available. The Ice Orb is a great idea, and makes great ice cubes, but it is extremely difficult to use. After filling and freezing the first batch, it is nearly impossible to remove the inner container, due to its having frozen to the outer one. For several minutes I tried gently bending, pulling, twisting and applying mild heat. Finally I exerted too much pressure and the inner container cracked. It was apparently useless before cracking, but with the crack it is impossible to use as intended. Worse, I sent fusionbrands a very nice email requesting help and they never replied. It's really too bad - the ice I was finally able to retrieve from my first (and only) batch was some of the best ice I've ever had. UPDATE: fusionbrands finally did reply to my email. They offered more detailed instructions on how to extract the inner container from the outer one, and they sent me a replacement Ice Orb. Unfortunately, even with the new technique it is very difficult to use. For me the Ice Orb is virtually useless.
