Does the Job April 30, 2007 LenSpin (NJ) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
This definately keeps my coffee hot, which is what is really important. However, within a week the Stainless Steel cover of the cup seperated from the plastic body. The design of the plastic on the top and bottom that covers the body of the thermos leaves space where water can collect from washing. So when I pour I normally get water dripping from the base. Kind of disgusting. I would not buy another of these.

I'm a coffee lover and go to some lengths for good coffee ... First, I got a Thermos TherMax (be sure it's the TherMax and the one(s) that state they keep hot hot or cold cold for 24 hours ... those are the really good ones ... ... bottom line, those (the 24 hour models) flatly work. So I make enough coffee to fill it ... and my lady friend who loves high quality tea same goes ... I make mine and take with because very few places I go have even decent coffee or tea, much less made the way I make it ... top end. Now I'll offer a few specifics that make it absolute perfection ... I use Peet's brand coffee and tea (I've tried most high end brands, and find Peet's to be the absolute, without question best ... further more than 50 of our friends who try it at our homes or office are all dedicated Peet's fans ... it's just the best) Filter your water ... I've researched, tried, the best is a Omni Brand filter (found commonly at Menards and home stores) ... you want one with a .5 Micron filter that get's all the stuff (5-6 major areas) but does not strip the minerals (otherwise your water doesn't taste or brew well ... coffee and tea react with the minerals, so a reverse osmosis system isn't ideal, nor is distilled water). Great water is a must for great coffee and tea. Brew it in a french press (seperate ones for tea and coffee, don't mix) ... Bodum's are great, glass is best Temperature ... coffee should be brewed with water about 200-205 (not boiling, it burns the coffee) Tea on the other hand should be made with boiling water (the hot water a restaurant uses in a coffee pot isn't hot enough, isn't high quality, usually the tea isn't either, and it sucks). ALSO NOTE RE TEA ... with quality tea, you make the first cup, then use the leaves and try cup 2, cup 3 ... see which is best, and there are differences (usuallly dark teas are better after the first cup) ... more info on this on the Peets site. BOTTOM LINE ... the Thermos Thermax products work great, and if you like great coffee and teas (and do the extra's to do it well) they will keep it hot and fresh, fantastic!!!

Product is good except that it does leak condensation (not coffee)which is annoying.
