Cleans SMALL spots nicely. May 29, 2007 Aaron Contorer (San Diego, USA) 25 out of 25 found this review helpful
The machine works as advertised, giving a wet soapy scrub and automatic vacuuming to spots about 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter. Like most carpet washers, it leaves some water -- expect to wait 24 hours for the spot to dry completely. If your carpet tends to get small spots on it, this machine is ideal -- place it down, press Start, and walk away for 3 to 6 minutes. The reservoir is small, so you can only clean about 4 spots before emptying the dirty water and refilling the clean soapy water. There is also a handheld attachment for manual cleaning, but it's rather annoying to use because it is extremely narrow. Don't expect to clean anything wider than 3 inches, and expect to scrub a lot.
Thank you, Bissell! May 8, 2007 Gone2lunch 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I used my SpotBot in what must have been the craftroom/kennel/gym of the previous owners. The nasty nylon carpet that came with the house is extremely reluctant to give up stains, but the SpotBot cleaned up oil and crusted-on soda spills easily. It even made significant inroads into smears of oil-based black paint. The ability to switch between automated and manual modes was helpful. On the worst stains, I ran a couple of automated cycles, then switched to manual mode and scrubbed. This is much more effective and powerful than my (good quality) carpet steamer. Yes, it does use a lot of cleaning fluid, and it takes time to address every stain (at least, if your carpet looks like this one). But it is still cheaper and faster than replacing flooring!
I love it!! May 4, 2007 Rebecca Smith 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
My sister bought me the SpotBot for Christmas 2007 and I absolutely love it. It doesn't replace a larger carpet cleaner for cleaning your entire carpet but it is perfect if you are house breaking a puppy or have cats who tend to throw up. I wouldn't be without one now that I have one.
Useless April 28, 2007 clvandenberg (Trenton, NJ United States) 7 out of 28 found this review helpful
If you have dogs and and kids, forget about using this. Just buy a larger and more expensive carpet cleaning machine. In the long run, it's worth the money. This thing will have you down on your hands and knees for hours trying to clean your carpets inch by inch.
Worth the money but bigger than I thought July 29, 2007 M. Hertzler (East Coast USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have a 19 year old cat and two 1 year old kittens. Between that and the dark frieze carpets that cover the whole second floor of my home, we have many puke spots that needed some serious help. If you scrub them with a brush, the carpet becomes frizzy and the spots noticeable. If you try to let them dry and vacuum them, it is difficult to get all of the crusty pieces off (how is that for appetizing!). This worked well on plush and frieze carpet. It also worked on some throw rugs and fit perfectly on my stairs. I just filled up the container with water and solution, plunked it down and pressed Start. After 3-6 minutes, the spot was gone and we moved on to another. Although noisy, it was better than scrubbing with my own hands. We have also used the hand held sprayer/scrubber on furniture and smaller spots. The vacuum hose was easy to use to suck up some remaining liquid. After a while, we even started to just use water on the more fresh stains and they came up quickly. The photos didn't give me a clear idea of size, so I was surprised at how big it was once I saw it in person. Just DON'T forget to empty the dirty water. It is not pleasant 24 hours later. ICK!
