So worth it! December 7, 2004 M. Kulis (Stamford, Connecticut - United States) 358 out of 370 found this review helpful
I know that these baking pans are pretty pricey (besides the one-day sale today that is!), but they are COMPLETELY worth it! I've always been the sort of person to buy the cheaper quality bakeware. After throwing out my 5th cookie sheet in a year because of warping, I decided to invest in a newer, higher-quality set of bakeware. I purchased this set (at higher than amazon costs I might add!). Since then I haven't had any issues with warping, rusting, corroding. If you follow your directions perfectly there is no burning either! I've used all of the pans so far, several times a week for the last few months and they still look basically brand new. Food glides off of the surface. I give it 5 stars! If my review was helpful, please vote for it. Have a great holiday! ~ Michele
Best Bakeware Set I've Ever Owned January 15, 2005 D. Phillips (Land of Oz, Kansas USA) 151 out of 153 found this review helpful
This is an extremely heavy set. I replaced all my lighter bakeware with this set. The old bakeware is going in the garage sale, because this set is easily worth 3 times the price. I'll probably buy another set, as I have 7 grandkids & do lots of cooking. It is Unbelieveable how cakes, muffins & everything just drop out of the pans. I used to use cooking spray & still have to really scrub the pans. You could just wipe these out with a paper towel, because you won't find any pans that are more NON-STICK than these. I was a little afraid to toss them in the dishwasher, because they are so nice. No problem, washing them by hand or tossing them in the dishwasher. GREAT!
You get what you pay for... December 6, 2005 demiangie (USA) 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
Like other reviewers, mine also began to rust under the curled edge soon after purchasing it. (And, no, I did not broil with my cake pan--who would??--or use any harsh detergents.) I agree that mainly it is just gross taking a rust-dripping pan out of the dishwasher. You can never get all of the rusty water out from under that lip, no matter how hard you try. After nearly a year of use, the top surfaces are scratched, but maybe in a bit better condition than cheapies I've picked up at Walmart in a pinch. However, they are not what I would have expected from Calphalon.
One year later... November 19, 2005 Mr. Genius (Washington, DC) 28 out of 30 found this review helpful
I bought this set last December and have used the pieces with regularity since. Based on price/performace alone, I would have given it 4 stars. It pretty much does what it is supposed to do, and $30 is pretty cheap for a set. I do think that the set is not (or should not be) representative of the Calphalon brand, though I suspect the profit margin on this set is probably much higher than that of its One line of cookware. My main issue has been echoed here before: rust, namely under the curled edges. This occured the first time I put the bakeware in the dishwasher. The rust is not visible, mind you; but as you take them out, they tended to drip brown liquid all over the floor. Now, my dishwasher is new, and I use regular old Cascade like everyone else, so I don't think the caveat emptor, "some detergents are caustic" really applies in this case. Now that said, some invisible rust which only exists inside the lip of the pans and which does not come into contact with food doesn't particularly bother me all that much. At the end of the day, they heat evenly as promised (though I would take about 5 minutes off your normal cook time for some baked goods). So I give 'em 3 stars; I am sure you could buy much worse for $30.
Just FYI on this Bakeware October 27, 2005 PES (Houston, TX USA) 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
Some of the reviews stated that the coating was coming off and that it was cheaply made and started to rust out after first trip to the dishwasher. This cookware is great and I have had no problems with it however...please read the product information on care. It is not for use in ovens over 450 degrees and not broiler safe. Says it is dishwasher safe however, some of the Calphalon bakeware product info says that "dishwasher detergents contain caustic chemicals that will damage the nonstick surfaces and void the lifetime warranty". Any of these could deteriorate the surface coating or cause some of the problems listed in several ratings. I've not put mine in the dishwasher and used as directed and have had no problems with this bakeware. Mine still looks as good as new after lots and lots of usage.
