Cumbersome and strangely designed February 20, 2006 E. Rebecca (New York, NY) 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is one of the most bizarre appliances I've ever used! I thought from looking at photos that it would be a hinged device that would open so one could pour in crepe mix and then close to cook them. Instead, I learn that it's huge, but doesn't open at all (making me wonder why on earth it's so big!) but rather cooks crepes on top after being dipped into the batter (a feat I've not come close to perfecting by any means--my batter won't stick!). It's heavy and gets horribly messy. Not recommended at all--it seems it would be easier to go back to making crepes on the stove.
Great little machine; makes excellent crepes easily June 11, 2006 Carrie 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This crepe maker works really well. I have had mine for a while, and it makes nice crepes every time. It is very easy - just mix the crepe batter, flip the crepe maker over and dip it into the matter (it comes with a round batter tray that is just right for dipping the machine into), and when the light goes on the crepe is done. The non-stick works pretty well, so the crepes peel off the heating surface easily when done (if the crepe isn't peeling off easily, it probably isn't done). Also, it really isn't heavy at all like the other reviewer says. A couple things worth noting. First, after you mix the crepe batter, the first few crepes usually don't come out well because the top of the batter is really airy from mixing so you don't get a smooth, even amount of batter on the crepe maker. Just plan on throwing the first few crepes out, and the rest will be great. Also, the crepes are fairly small, maybe 8 inches diameter, so if you want to fold them up and make blintzes out of them (which can be done, and are delicious), the blintzes will be pretty small.
LOVE it!! January 29, 2007 D. Stalka (midwest) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My dad used to make us crepes when we were kids. Just got this and we all LOVE it! Easy to use, so EASY! You will be pleased with it!
Perfect crepes every time April 4, 2007 J. Johnson (WA, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This has saved me so much time making crepes, and once you have the technique down it is so easy. I recommend dipping the top in the batter straight in, and holding it for a count of 5 seconds, then lifting, letting a drop drip back in (count of 2 seconds), then flipping over to finish cooking. We are all addicted to these now! The best crepe recipe is from Cordon Bleu and I adapted it: 1 1/2 cups flour 2 cups milk 4 Tbs sugar 4 eggs 6 Tbs butter, melted 1 tsp vanilla 1/4 tsp salt Blend all these in a blender and let rest for at least 20 minutes. These are so good you need no topping!
Best Kitchen Purchased Last Few Years March 16, 2007 S. Rocha (NY - USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first I was not so sure if this thing of dumping the pan would work. But it works perfectly. Crepes come out great. Just remember to let them sit for a while after blending the mix and before starting use the Crepe Maker (something around 1/2 hour, at least). 2 of my friends came to my house to try and now will buy it. This is the best purchase I've made for my kitchen so far. Very easy to use.
