very heavy towels with care issues January 4, 2008 memery 127 out of 134 found this review helpful
Based on the positive reviews, I bought a complete set of these towels and the matching Pinzon Bamboo Cotton Hand Towel, White and Pinzon Bamboo Cotton 2-Pack Washcloths, White. They have some annoying aspects that weren't mentioned by other reviewers and that weren't obvious in the product descriptions. The care instructions require cold water wash, no bleach. In general, don't everyone's towels occasionally need hot washing and sanitizing or stain removal? The care instructions also specify low dryer temperature. These are relatively very heavy towels, and at a low temperature, just four towels take two full cycles in the dryer (90 minutes or more) to dry. If you're a person who likes to wrap up in a towel with just a quick tuck to hold it in place, be aware that this towel is way to heavy for that. It's weight drags it down instantly. That said, the towels are intensely soft, even silky. It's as if they have been soaked in fabric softener but without the absorption issues that would cause. They're very absorbent. They feel fabulous against even very dry sensitive skin without even a hint of abrasive texture. Overall, I'm not unhappy enough to return them and they do feel nice, but if I had known they were so heavy and had the care issues, I don't think I would have purchased them.
Makes me (almost) look forward to mornings October 2, 2007 M. Bohlmann (Seattle, WA USA) 49 out of 49 found this review helpful
A friend of mine recommended these towels, saying that she can't bring herself to use any of her old towels now that she has these. After feeling how soft they are, I had to get some for myself! And, let me say, they are far superior to any towel I've ever owned--and for a really amazing price. I've often bought the Polo bath sheets, and they do not even compare to these Pinzon ones, plus they cost lots more! The towels are so soft and luxurious--they almost make me want to get up in the morning just so I can have my shower and wrap myself in the super softness! Plus, the bath towel is a great size--it's actually fairly large for a "towel"--it's really about the size of what other brands call a bath "sheet." I know towels aren't a particularly glamorous gift, but I'm definitely going to be giving some of these Pinzon towels as Christmas gifts. My friends and family will enjoy the luxury as much as I do! Also, I notice there is a matching robe, so I might pick up a couple of those too.
Sheer Luxury! February 6, 2008 Hippie2MARS (Chattanooga, TN United States) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Oh my, how I love these bath sheets! I bought one in Palm and one in Espresso. These little luxuries have far exceeded my expectations. Big time pros: 1. They are absolutely, silky soft yet... 2. They absorb beautifully. 3. It is such a pampering experience for me to step out of the shower and wrap myself up in one of these luxurius bath sheets. 4. They are generously sized and cover up my plus-sized body completely. So, why haven't I rated these a five? Well, they aren't perfect. Not so big-time cons: 1. They take FOREVER to dry (two full cycles in the dryer, then I had to remove everything else and dry them by themselves for one more cycle). This appears to only be a problem when fully saturated though, because they dry just fine when hung up after a shower. 2. The Expresso colored towel gathers and shows lint quickly, which is, perhaps, to be expected with a dark colored towel. Still annoying and unsightly. 3. They are VERY heavy, almost like a small blanket. I happen to like that about them, but it could definitely be a minus to someone who likes a lighter towel. 4. Price...let's face it, these things are PRICEY. I'd like to replace all my towels with the matching bath towels, but it would be cost prohibitive. Having said that, I would buy them again in a heartbeat. I love the Palm color, but would probably think twice about the darker Expresso, just because of the lint issue. If you are looking for a super soft, roomy, absorbant bath towel, you can't go wrong with this one! Everyone deserves a little treat in life, so why not splurge a bit and wrap yourself in luxury? ***UPDATE*** 7/6/08 - These are still holding up beautifully. I've since ordered several as gifts and everyone has raved about them (and some recipients have come to Amazon to buy more)! I was going to redo my guest bath, and when I saw the amazing discount on the ginger color, I instantly decided on my color scheme. What a deal! I've ordered them for my sons' homes and sent some to my brother as well. Have I mentioned how much I love ALL these towels??? I only wish I could change the review to reflect 5 stars instead of 4....the pros FAR outweigh the cons in my opinion.
Soft as cashmere, but better August 1, 2007 A. Odell 21 out of 22 found this review helpful
These are the softest towels I've owned. They seem to absorb water well and dry quickly too. They feel like cashmere and are just as luxurious. So far, they've washed well and come out of the dryer fluffy and unwrinkled. I will be recommending these to family and friends.
Addressing "concerns" about this towel.... April 10, 2008 Brent Woodland (Bellingham, WA) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
I agree with all those who love these towels! They are soft and silky. After the first wash they felt a little weird when drying, hard to explain, but they get better with each wash. Since most reviewers are thrilled with the quality and feel, I am going to address my experience about some of the "concerns". First, I purchased the white bath size towels. They seem more of a cream than a white so maybe I got the wrong color. I have not had any shedding or pilling with these towels, even after the first wash. After use, my towels have always been dry by the next day. My biggest concern was the surprise info when the towels arrived that they needed to be washed with cold water, and dried on low. If I can't wash my towels in hot water and dry with heat, I don't want them. So I decided to do it anyway to see what would happen in the event I wanted to order more. I have washed my towels 4 times now, all with HOT water, and dried on regular. I have NOT noticed ANY problems. The towels are still super soft and if they shrank it was too minimal to notice. Since I've used regular drying heat, my towels have dried in one cycle. I don't know how a "hot" wash will effect the colored towels, but I'm ordering a set and about to find out. Maybe my disregard for the care instructions will come back to bite me later (will they wear out faster?), but at this point I'm expecting them to last a nice, long time. I agree, they don't stay wrapped around hair, or around a body. But they're too luxurious for me to care. I also have bamboo/cotton dishtowels with instructions to wash in cold, dry on low and not to use chlorine bleach. My dishtowels MUST be bleachable and washable in HOT water! I have been doing this with these dishtowels for several months with no obvious problems. (Maybe this will destroy the natural antibacterial feature of the bamboo?) HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
