Air Has Faded March 5, 2008 Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Last year's American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, really hasn't hit the nail on the head with great songs on her debut. While her debut single Tattoo was a fair song, it just hasn't shown that she has stood out well to compete with greats like Alicia Keys or newcomer Chrisette Michele. Her second single from that album, No Air with rising Hip Hop star Chris Brown, doesn't work well either. While the song has a fairly nice beat, it just doesn't seem to be an everlasting song that stands out. On top of that, the duet doesn't actually show that there is complete chemistry like other classics. I just honestly think she has a good talent, but needs to find better footing for the long run. Her next single needs to do a much better job at sealing the deal. Song: D+
Sonic Suffocation April 19, 2008 Anna Marissa (Northern California) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
"No Air" perfectly describes the duet between hip-hop star Chris Brown and American Idol starlet Jordin Sparks. The song doesn't breathe. It's suffocated with cliches; there are no sparks between the singers. "No Air", luckily, isn't an unwieldy mashup of hip-hop and R&B. It's bland,by-the-numbers R&B. Nothing unique or different. It's an arranged musical marriage of sorts between two superstars. Both Sparks and Brown are talented and have great voices, but the song is boring and bland. "No Air" is forgettable. There's neither respiration... nor inspiration.
I love it April 4, 2008 Lizbeth (Sunrise, Florida United States) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I absolutely love this single. It is definitely a very emotional song which shows both Jordin's and Chris' vocals beautifully. As can be seen on the charts, this single has done excellent in both the US as well as over seas. Right now in the U.S., it reached #5 on the Hot 100. It is at the #1 spot in New Zealand's Hot 100 for 4 weeks in a row already, reached #3 on the Hot 100 in Canada, gets plenty of radio airplay and is doing very well in general. Combine this with the music video and it is a must have! A++
