Uplifting, and I don't even know why! September 21, 2008 Timothy W. Kyle (Portage, MI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
World music, especially African, is pretty much foreign to me. While I listen to just about anything, I haven't spent much time exploring this style. Heck, probably to closest I have come to this in reality is Paul Simon's "Graceland" album, Peter Gabriel's song, "In Your Eyes", and The Lion King. Pretty sad, huh? So I had no idea what to expect here. I can't tell you what it is about this song. It is just so uplifting to listen to. You can't help but smile, and I have no idea what she is singing. Chiwoniso is from Zimbabwe, and sings in her native tongue, backed with ethnic and contemporary instrumentation. The production is first rate; you can hear everything as clear as a bell, and there is some great low end as well. The song drifts on and on, with the vocals soaring above like a graceful bird. This is a beautiful song that makes me really want to hear more. I can listen to this over and over. If it stays as a free download, get it NOW!!!
