5 out of 5 stars Perfection   October 23, 2007

Simple perfection... Other reviews have called this track pop fluff, but pop fluff does not capture a moment and feeling so elegantly and beautifully. Colbie Caillat is real talent.

1 out of 5 stars Worst song on radio   October 19, 2007

I truly believe this is currently the worst song on FM radio. This is tough to do, as there's a lot of not-great pop music, but this transcends "not good" or "kind of annoying" and enters the realm of steaming $h1t sandwich plopped onto the American pop charts. It's sole claim to popularity is the feel good "starts at my toes, makes me crinkle my nose" line of the chorus. For some reason, this rhyme conjures positive feelings in the same people buying cute kitten calenders, posters of dancing babies, and the occasional quart of Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey.

This year featured amazing releases from Suzanne Vega & PJ Harvey, arguably two of the strongest female songwriting voices in music; so why is America not downloading Vega's uber-catchy "Zephyr & I", or taking a chance on PJ's most adventurous and Radiohead-esque album? I truly don't understand. The only thing to detest more than the ultimately talentless Colbie Caillat is the culture which makes this a number one download and a top 10 billboard hit.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Song   November 16, 2007

To the 1 star take-downs, songs are a matter of personal taste so why the need to trash it??? Listen to something else. I'm not sure I'd spend my time seeking out songs I don't like just to give 'em a 1-star review, but hey, not everyone has a life. This song is pleasing to my ear. Nice melody, solid lyrics, sweet voice...nice song. Is it the greatest song ever written? Of course not, but it's certainly not trash and deserving of 1 star.

1 out of 5 stars Insipid chick music   October 23, 2007

Chick music has really become miserable dreck. If a gal isn't pretending to be a delicate celtic fairy (uh, no thanks Sarah) she may be writing stupid banal tripe like this. About a month ago I thought I'd heard the worst lyrics ever, when some faux-naif, vacant drip names Mirah sang, in her best little girl voice, "If we sleep together, will you be my friend forever" over and over. (guh!) I wanted to rip the radio out of my car. But 'Bubbly' easily eclipses it. The detestable rhymes are something a numb kindergarten teacher would come up with. In demurring from more agressive thoughts, ideas & music, chicks can't seem to locate a bone in their body that rocks. This passive singing, thinking & listening mode escapes me. If you enjoy songs like this, you're already dead inside & shallow outside. Absolute garbage.

2 out of 5 stars pure fluff   October 20, 2007

a Myspace made artist that demonstrates that the public gets what the public wants. in this case it's a simple, almost catchy song that would have been better as a commercial jingle for shampoo or maybe an instant coffee. nicely nuanced voice, but she should hire a professional songwriter.
