The Nerve August 1, 2008 Mark Twain 12 out of 30 found this review helpful
I don't even need to hear this song to know it sucks. How dare this little piece of manufactured product cover a Cyndi Lauper song. Cyndi = a true original. Faith Hope Cyrus (or whatever her real name is) is nothing but a Disney creation made to bilk hardworking parents out of their hard earned money. What a disgrace.
My achy breaky heart. August 3, 2008 Stefan Crane (KY USA) 12 out of 16 found this review helpful
I listened to the whole track. Trying to find some element of entertainment value: didn't happen. Cyndi Lauper's version, although she didn't write the track, shines way above anything this teeny-bopper could put out. The instrumentation is horrid as well. I simply cannot believe that the powers at Disney decide to back this stuff. I know it's a business, but it's a business of art, this girl is no artist.

She doesn`t do this song JUSTICE, Cyndi`s version is 100% better and still loved after 20 yrs. In twenty yrs we will be asking "Miley who?"
Doesn't Feel Like Fun August 5, 2008 Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Honestly, for Miley Cyrus, she has shown to have a promising career that has a lot of diversity with her character Hannah Montana. However, for her to make a name for her own self as a singer is really been a lot harder than meets the eye. Her latest single doesn't really show that Miley is not as strong with making cover songs all her own either. Her rendidition of Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, the second single from her album Breakout, feels like it is just a waste of listening. I really was very dissapointed with the feeling of the song, because it doesn't capture the joy that Cyndi shows and made the song for over 25 years. I wasn't very amused with the song, and it feels like it is just something for the tween market, rather than something for everyone, just like her last single, 7 Things. If Miley is really going to make it on her own, she needs to be more than just a tween, and that is even beyond what the 7 things she had before. Song: F+
shes no Cyndi however my daughter loves her. August 2, 2008 Buggs 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
I loved this song growing up and i am sure Miley has no idea what a privilege she has been given to be able to cover this song. I don't think it is horrible but i agree that it has that Disney quality to it but thats what makes my daughter love her so much. They are trying to redirect the age audience for this song and they are doing well. You have to figure that Cyndi gets royalties for every print of her song and is fully aware and approved this remake.
