From a song writers point of view. June 27, 2008 All Powerful Wizard Of Oz (Oz, far far away) 37 out of 49 found this review helpful
I don't listen to radio. Really never do. One night I was at this bar and this song came on and it caught my ear and I listened to it all the way through and the thing that popped into my head was "Wow that's a damn good pop song, who is that?" I've been meaning to download this song. The bottom line is this, this song is great as far as modern pop songs go. It has a fantastic electro vibe with a taste of new wave built in. This is not IMO the standard garbage that many of these negative reviews are geared towards. It's easy to hate something when it's popular but you know what some things that are popular are actually not that bad and deserve the credit they get. This is one of them. Great pop song writing. Worth the download.
Letter To The Industry: July 2, 2008 J. Taylor (Mi) 24 out of 43 found this review helpful
Please up your standards. I as a lesbian detest someone like Katy Perry trying to vie the attention of males by talking about kissing chicks, and then saying "good girls" just don't do that type of thing. Well, call me a bad girl cause I say the music is awful, and the lyrics are that of a fifth grader, and at least find someone worth looking at. Can we please move along in the industry?
Just looking for attention it seems. July 7, 2008 Gerard J. Voytek 21 out of 40 found this review helpful
Katy, I really don't give a crap that you kissed a girl. Big deal, get over it, and stop trying to get attention. Real men don't care, and aren't turned on by your immature antics. The music stinks too. But your silly attempts for attention to sell cd's is really the most disgusting. I hope you sink like a stone to the bottom of the pond. And the lesbian that wrote a similar opinion to mine is dead-on....it's crass commercialism and sickening.
Kiss Faded To Black July 5, 2008 Michael Kerner (Brooklyn, New York U.S.A.) 20 out of 50 found this review helpful
As a shopper of the new Met Fresh Super Center, I actually hear this song played a lot. For newcomer, Katy Perry, she really doesn't seem to actuall have the appeal to really rock out loud. Her debut single, I Kissed A Girl from her debut album One Of The Boys, is one of the most displeasing songs I've ever heard this past year. She really feels like she is trying to be more like flavor of the moment, and sadly she wrecks her chance at the beginning. I really think she needs to really reinvent herself, if she wants to as good as acts like K.T. Tunstall, or even the tabloid drama Queen, Amy Winehouse. If she really wants to win people over, she'd better stop kissing all the wrong girls. Song: F
Pop thump ugh June 25, 2008 Jonathan Howell 18 out of 33 found this review helpful
This is NOT a cover of Jill Sobule's "I Kissed A Girl". This one makes Ms. Sobule's version sound clever and charming. (well, it is, but that's not the point). The bass line is what I would expect to hear from a tricked-out Monte Carlo with hydraulic shocks. The sexual innuendo is delivered by shouting. In short, the song is as deep and subtle as its title. Disappointed. Jonathan
