3 out of 5 stars TAPS Paranormal Magazine   August 10, 2008
Terry G. Caldwell (Lakewood, CA 90712)
Because I find the TV series Ghost Hunters a fascinating television series (I have purchased all of the DVSs), I subscribed to TAPS magazine, expecting the magazine to focus on the scientific investigation of ghosts and the paranormal topics relevant to the specific episodes of the TV series. Instead, I discovered that the magazine focused less on Ghost Hunters and more on a conglomeration of folklore and unrelated paranormal topics that had nothing to do with the program. I stopped the subscription after one year. I'll just stick to the DVDs. If I want information on other paranormal topics, I'll look them up for free on the internet.

5 out of 5 stars Worth it.   May 22, 2008

I really didn't know quite what to expect with this magazine, so I purchased some individual back issues (from the TAPS Paramag Website) before I subscribed. I have to disagree with a few earlier reviews, I think TAPS Paramagazine is very nicely put together, and I can definitely tell how it's grown and how it's constantly being improved by comparing the earlier issues to the most recent. The staff also seem to be very open to comments and suggestions if you DO have any problems.

As for the content, it's always interesting and NOT completely centered around advertising itself or Ghost Hunters, though it is the "TAPS" Paramagazine, so of course there will be some of that involved. The writers are informative and this magazine in general seems to provide INFORMATION instead of just perpetuating rumors and myth. Don't get me wrong, they *address* all manner of paranormal claims and activity (everything from UFO's to Ghosts to Cryptozoology and anything in between), but they do it professionally and objectively, as you would expect of anything affiliated with TAPS.

Whether you're a fan of the show or not, I think this magazine is well worth a subscription, and I'll definitely be continuing mine for years to come.

The magazine was interesting and entertaining but I only received a couple issues. I did not receive the entire subscription. Buyer beware.

1 out of 5 stars Not a Real Magazine   May 14, 2007

This 'magazine' is not literate or professional as some of the other reviews indicate, but shoddily thrown together. Jason Hawes has said that the magazine is a means for the TAPS organization to raise money to fund their operations, and like many University Alumni publications it seems to be regarded by the people making it as little more: they just need to throw together 30 pages and get it out there, taking care of course to sell advertising space in the back. But an 'interesting read' for people who DO read it is not.

5 out of 5 stars Always a fun and informative read   February 24, 2007

I started as a fan of the TAPS website and have been a big fan of the show since it started. So, although perhaps it helps to already be interested in TAPS specifically, I don't think that's a prerequisite to enjoying the magazine. However, if you are a fan of Ghost Hunters, I think you'll definitely appreciate this paramagazine. It is well done with thoughtful articles on topics ranging from (of course) ghosts, to UFO's, psychic phenomena, time/space relations and always with an eye open for the skeptical side of the paranormal. They occasionally give behind-the-scenes insight into the filming of the show; and sometimes teasers for what's coming up.
One other quick detail that's just worth menioning is that each issue comes packaged in an envelope- which might not seem like much- but I happen to have a mailman that enjoys scattering my mail all over the front porch. So, for me, that detail means that my magazine is always in good shape. Give it a try- I don't think you'll be sorry.

We'll be adding even more exciting features to assist you in the coming year.
