A great tool for stock selection, but the newspaper is heavily tarnished by its op-ed page, which is to the right of Ghengis Kahn. It's also gutless, since nowhere will you find a masthead with the names of the people responsible for the poorly-written and often left-baiting copy that passes as their editorial comment.
Why they feel compelled to offer political commentary in paper that promotes itself as a learning tool is beyond me. Couple that with the high price and the numerous ads to buy their other products, and you start to feel a little worked over.
Buy one every now and then from the newsstand when you need the research info.

You may think twice when you see the subscription price. DON'T!!!
Investors Business Daily (IBD) is the top resource for beginner to professional investor. Each day IBD uses their highly successful CAN SLIM formula for identifying the next up and coming stocks. Great Features include:
The Big Picture - A daily paragraph reviewing the previous days activity, along with a barometer of how the market is doing.
The Real Most Active - List of stocks that see unusual increases/decreases in volume trading. Not your typical Microsoft/Cisco/Nasdaq 100 list.
Investor's Corner - A daily lesson on becoming a better investor. Using history and examples.
IBD 100 - The current 100 most promising stocks recognized by IBM thru a multitude of fundamentals.
Leaders and Success - A daily biography of a historical political/business/military/sport leader and how they changed the face of their industry.
Finally, when you subscribe you get access to the IBD Learning Center which gives lessons on buying and selling.
If you pickup one lesson from this newspaper it will more than save you or make you back the subscription fee.
My greatest lesson learned thus far:

It's tough to read a paper and trust its business insights when the editorial page is written by such shallow, simple minded, right wing ideologues. There is interesting reporting on new and upcoming businesses, and they suggest an interesting approach to investing, but the value of their advice is severly compromised by the obvious extreme right wing pandering in evidence on the front page news and the editorial section.
If you're an average, non-technical investor, I think there are better, mainstream resources, and they are free.

IBD is the best newspaper and news source for investing or just good business advice.I wouldn't invest or be without it.

This is a very good resource for investing but unfortunately the editorials, especially the Issue & Insights section, is written by extreme right wing radicals. They might as well have Ann Coulter or Gordon Liddy writing their columns. This part of the paper has been a huge disappointment. The majority of Americans don't view themselves with the extreme right or left side of the political process. I can't understand why this investor's resource would sell themselves to one extreme. I simply can no longer support either radical views and I don't want to spend this type of money on a paper that is so extreme. The right winged editorials compromise the value of their product. I have no idea why this would be necessary in an investor's guide. Do yourself a favor and find an alternative investor resource guide that is far less political. There are many out there and most of them cost less or are free.
