The magazine like Oprah's show covers topics about the real world that infuences our daily lives. It is also geared to middle aged women like myself. You won't find Madison Avenue's obsession with youth, beauty, & nearly nude models spread all over the pages. There are plenty of fascinating articles throughout. Such as: "Is Fear Limiting Your Life?" "Yes I Can Diet," "Sex In The Middle Ages," "Cancer-Spot, It Treat It, Beat It," etc. I also like how the magazine is organized by departments. "Special, Features, O-zone, Advice,etc. Style, Health, Books, Connections, & In Every Issue." The latter section has a Calendar with quotes on the days, O to go, Love That!, Breathing Space, Shop Guide, Food, Beauty, Something To Think About, & what I know for sure by Oprah. You can also get financial tips from Suze Orman & advice from Dr. Phil like answering a question from a working mom. The only negatives are those that truly can't be helped. Advertisiments are heavy throughout even the smallest magazines, which keeps them in business. It still deserves five solid stars.

I used to like Oprah, until I got a real idea of what she was all about. First of all, why would you put out a magazine with yourself on the cover of every issue? Second of all, Oprah doesn't care about anyone, but herself. She does nothing but exploit people and their mishaps, sadness, and struggle in life to make herself rich. I thought it was absurd that she would talk down on a certain fashion store because they wouldn't let her in after hours. I thought Oprah came from poverty. She should remember where she came from and start practicing some REAL humanitarian work. Oprah is just another money hungry selfish person and I don't see why anyone likes her. As far as the magazine goes, the only thing in it is ads. Oprah, please do something with yourself.

I love Oprah. I watch her show whenever I get the chance and for the most part, I find her to be insightful and meaningful. I was excited when I received a subscription to her magazine as a gift, but soon after I was disapointed. This magazine is boring and there are many "filler" pages. I have been scanning through pages and pages to try to find an article that I find interesting enough to read, but I have yet to come across one. At this point, I can't wait until my subscription ends because I see it as just a waste of paper. Watch Oprah on TV, but trust me, skip the magazine!!

Firstly, I was surprised to see that Oprah would allow something with her name on it to be sent to her subscribers without the customary plastic envelope to protect while in the mail. 7 out of the 12 issues I've received have been thrashed with tattered covers and torn pages. I called about the first one and was sent a new one in an envelope, but didn't feel I should have to do that every month. I was intending to collect and keep my issues for years to come, but with the condition they are received in I no longer have an interest. It's a big turn off because each issue looks like it's something I got second hand from a friend or something.
Secondly, I have to concur with comments from other people complaining about the advertising. It definately comes through that the focus of this magazine is to give Gail a project she can earn a good living with rather than to minimize the marketing and ads so a better quality of journalism can utilize the pages available.
Sorry Oprah, I never thought I'd say this, but I think the greed of making yet more money got the best of you on this one.
All in all, I don't feel I got what I paid for, the presentation completely overshadowed the product content and enjoyment of the articles.

What I love most about O is what sets it apart from other magazines for women; it is intelligently written for women who want to read stimulating articles. O doesn't focus on how a woman should look and act to attract a man (too many of today's magazines dwell on that), but on relevant social issues, personal and spiritual growth, fashion and media. O addresses the usual genres, but in a superior way. I look forward to enjoying each new issue curled up on the sofa with a glass of wine. Highly recommended!
