This is a great magazine! April 20, 2003 Tracey Layton (Arkansas) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I really enjoy this magazine, it has a wide range of topics and is very informative and interesting. It has a large area in the back for classified ads which is a great place to find rare and unusual birds (and other animals: deer, alpacas, elk, ect.). It talks about gamebirds/poultry, from diamond doves, to swans, to mandarin ducks, to button quail. Would definitly recommend for anyone with interests/hobbies in this area.
A bugger to get, but great once got January 5, 2004 S. Hopkins (Everywhere and Nowhere) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Definitly worth the wait to get the subscription but also, defintly a hastle. First off, Amazon.com provided faulty information (quote "ships only to United States" unquote) and i know very well they ship to over 60 countries! I did post on gamebird message board after about two months after subscription asking if everyone got theirs and was contacted by Allen Publishing Co. wondering if i had recieved mine yet. They were extremely polite and when they found out i'd bought it from amazon.com, immedialty went to check it out and found that amazon is not on their selling list. So it took a while and the publishing company was figuring out what amazon had done with my subscription. I finally did get it and really thank Allen Publishing Co. in the end, not amazon.com. I give FIVE stars for the mazazine, one star for poor service of amazon.com
Great Magazine For Those Interested In Quail Or Other Gamebirds July 10, 2006 Dan 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I had seen the Game Bird Gazette mentioned on several college or university agricultural sites as a source of information on raising game birds and waterfowl. My interest is mainly quail and I have to say this publication has been enormously helpful. I found several breeding farms in there from whom I purchased very productive birds. Also, the information in the magazine is very detailed as advertised and has been very helpful to me in putting together my pens, feeding the adults and young, incubating and hatching the eggs, etc. There are lots of great close-up pictures of many different quails, the best I've seen around. An altogether wonderful magazine that I would recommend to anyone interested in raising quail, pheasant, partridge, or other game birds. The magazine also has information on ducks, geese and swans which is very good as well.
Must be Patient December 14, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This magazine contains some useful information, but to be a subscriber you must be patient. This is a bi-monthly magazine (six issues per year), and you may find yourself waiting months on end for the next issue. Publishing is sporatic, and in my experience after receiving two issues over a six month period I was sent a letter telling me my subscription was up and I needed to renew. That was straightened up and apologies provided but I have yet to receive the August/September 2003 issue. When I receive it I will have received 3 issues in 10 months.
Excellent magazine March 4, 2006 Robert Johnson 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my favorite magazine because it has information you can actually use in raising your quail, pheasants, and ducks. Really detailed information on what to feed, how to get the pens ready, incubating the eggs, brooders, etc. Pictures are some of the best I've seen in a magazine on birds. The classified ad sections has eggs, chicks and grown birds of all the different game birds. I like how the advertisers and the ones who write articles in the magazine will also answer questions when you write to them. Very friendly!
