Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The # 1 surf magazine. If it matters in the sport of surfing, Surfer has it first and has it best. Great photos. Big waves. Hot moves. Travel stories. You'll find more action, substance, humor, more of the energy that makes surfing so addictive, within the pages of Surfer.

2 out of 5 stars Don't get fooled   June 2, 2003

There are currently two major surf magazines, SURFER and SURFING. Guess what? They are owned by the same magazine conglomerate, Primedia. Surfer used to bill itself as the "Bible" of the sport, and for a long time it was. But now, in keeping with the times of oligopolies and the hyper-commercialization of surfing, Surfer, along with it's younger partner, Surfing, is a piece of toilet paper. The editorial content has been dumbed down to general public intelligence, the photos are not as spectacular as they used to be, and the characters they cover, the surfers themselves are nowhere near as interesting and colorful as they used to be. Blah...

5 out of 5 stars Green Room for the Soul....   March 17, 2002

Surfer magazine has been around since the 50s/60s and is known as the equivalent of the "bible of surfing". Anything and everything about the sport & lifestyle of surfing is covered in each issue. Published monthly, the magazine also releases a yearly calendar as well as a "collector's issue" as well. Coverage of professional and amatuer surfing contests/tours, local as well as international related events, industry related articles, travel features, exclusive interviews and most notably, cutting and insightful editorials/commentary by some of the industry's best writers compounded by inspiring photographs from the best water-photographers of the day make Surfer magazine the best magazine of its kind.

Surfer magazine easily gives surfers and non-surfers the feeling of what it means to be a surfer. While it would be easy (and boring) to produce a surfing magazine with mainly pictures, Surfer magazine shines with the added value of its strong written words that add extra depth and meaning while covering issues from sex, drugs, the environment as well as legal issues affecting our coastlines... The price for a subscription it's well worth the price of getting "stoked", even if you live hundreds of miles from the nearest beach. Hang Ten! - d.i.roberts.

5 out of 5 stars THE BIBLE OF SURFING   March 8, 2007

Surfer magazine is the premier magazine of the sport. I've been a subscriber since I started surfing and can't put it down. I always read each issue a couple times and then save it to read later. While not as sophisticated as "The Surfers Journal" but more serious than "Transworld Surf" SURFER is the perfect combination. I always look forward to their annual oversized collectors issue. Fascinating and enlightening articles, incredible action shots, and the latest news on anything and everything you need or want to know about surfing, you should already have your credit card out. Great reading for flat days, at work or school or at the beach.

5 out of 5 stars I would like to have a backnumber of SURFER.   March 24, 2002

I would like to have a backnumber, this means privious SURFER magazine, for instance, 1998/Dec, 1999/Jan, because either magazine may have a poster including the magazine. I would like to have the poster. So if I have to contact the publisher of the magazine SURFER, because I don't know which edition have the poster. What should I do to get the old edition magazine?

This is a great magazine that is not only filled with great surfing pictures and articles, it is filled with hottt women. Everything that you need to know about surfing is in this magazine. Need to know about future surfing events, then this is the magazine for you!!! You can find different products in this magazine too. There are amazing surfing photos in here that i can just not get enough of. You can just only sit there in disbelief on how that actual humans do the things that are presented in this magazine. There is also a letter of the month column that if you win, you receive a prize. this mag is definetly the best ever!!!
