5 out of 5 stars Plain English Smart Computing   November 10, 2002

This magazine is the best starting point for anyone just starting out in the world of computers. Their title says it all. Plain english explanations, descriptions and directions to get started in using that new or almost new computer. The writers assume no prior knowledge and explain what they are talking about in an easy to understand manner. Their non-subscription web site (search for Smart Computing magazine) is available to show the features of their monthly offerings and they have a wonderful Question and Answer page on their web site that is a great way to meet "power users", who can help with any kind of computing problem. I have been a subscriber for many years even though I am now no longer a "Novice" (but not quite a "power user")and just enjoy reading Smart Computing. When the reader is ready there is always PC Magazine (which I now understand much better, thanks to Smart Computing). You can keep me honest by checking out their web site for Smart Computing Magazine. I think you will agree. Enjoy! Paul from North Dakota.

I get Smart Computing issues in the mail as a subscriber and I still enjoy reading them. There are chockful of tips, tricks, new technology stuff, and many more in each issue. I also never felt overwhelmed reading this magazine because it is easy to read and to understand. I have learned a lot just by reading this magazine every month! :) For anyone who wants to learn more about the computer and the Internet, this is the magazine to get. :)

5 out of 5 stars Excellent magazine - I've been a subscriber for years!   December 4, 2004

Of all other computer magazines I tried, I've kept Smart Computing. This magazine is excellent at all levels (beginner -> expert). I've been in the IT industry for years and I've always found something in this magazine that's helped me or someone else I've helped. There aren't buzzwords that aren't explained and it's easy to understand, but I definitely don't consider it context that would be considered 'talking down to you' - not in the least. Their product reviews and articles are outstanding.

The benefits don't end at the magazine subscription. For being a subscriber you're given online access to the Smart Computing website. This includes online access to Smart Computing's 4 sister magazines - PC Today, CE Lifestyles, their Reference Series and Computer Power User. I've only just recently started using their Q & A board and there are some really knowlegeable people there.

This is definitely a magazine worth subscribing to. You will definitely get many benefits from it :)

for the subscription I get access online to 4 other computer magazines + extra web content...most readable of all...topics are right on. only if you're a super-power user or wire-head will you not find this a great magazine. multiyear subscriptions were much cheaper when i bought...best overall I've ever seen. :-)
