5 out of 5 stars Exceptional magazine/Very poor customer service   May 28, 2004

I rate the magazine 5 stars; however, the customer service is rated 0 stars. I purchased an issue of this magazine at a local bookstore and immediately wanted to subscribe. I subscribed directly through the magazine site using Paypal. My payment was acknowledged by the publisher on December 18, 2003. As of yet I have failed to receive the magazine or a refund, which I originally requested in February. I am still corresponding with them and continue to be assured that a check is forthcoming. "The check is in the mail" for the last two months. I have not purchased another copy of the magazine and feel that I am missing out on a really good publication, but I refuse to deal with extremely poor service. I hope this is the exception rather than the rule to their customer service.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Content   August 3, 2004

Intermezzo is a feast of delicious, easy to follow recipes with a minimum of exotic ingredients, beautiful photos, interesting travel stories, and useful decorating tips. It actually feels like it has more content than ads, and I hope that doesn't change. I've tried several recipes and they've all turned out great so far.

Usually I go through my magazines and tear out articles or recipes that I want to save and toss the rest once I've read it. I can't do that with Intermezzo, because I just have to keep the whole thing. Other than National Geographic, it's the only magazine that I save as whole issues.

The only thing I'd change is that I'd love to see this published monthly instead of every other month. Then again, I don't want to sacrifice quality for quantity, and this is definitely a quality publication.

5 out of 5 stars BUY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT -- Best magazine out there   January 13, 2004

I saw Intermezzo at Borders last fall and could not put it down. Had never heard of it before but it has already opened up a new world of stress-free, beautiful meals made with readily available ingredients. For once I don't have to go to three speciality shops to find the ingredients (like I used to with Gourmet or Saveur, so I never actually made any recipes from those magazines). I have already made 3 items from the November issue and they were all fabulous. On top of that Intermezzo showcases wonderful travel destinations, all connected to fine food experiences. I want to go to Rue Cler in Paris and to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Intermezzo has taken me there and I loved the trip. Buy it, you'll love it.

5 out of 5 stars Finest cooking magazine I have ever seen, plus so much more   September 21, 2003

I don't know where this magazine came from, but I am glad I found it. Intermezzo is the finest cooking magazine I have ever seen, bar none. It's a coffee table book you'll actually cook with. I think they boast 50 recipes and all are clearly written with easy steps. No weird ingredients either. PLUS at least a third of the magazine has the most beautiful travel stories and photographs I have ever seen. On top of all that, there are great and tasteful interior design ideas. Ads seem located at front and back and not in the middle of the stories or recipes. There's nothing I don't like about this gorgeous magazine. BUY IT.

2 out of 5 stars Very Good Magazine/Extremely Poor Customer Service   April 5, 2006

It is a shame that such a good magazine lacks so much in customer service. I subscribed in 2005 and only received one (1) issue which was informative, well structured and beautifully illustrated. When i e-mailed the company to find out what had happened with the rest of my subscription,
Roseanne Tully's (CEO & Publisher to Intermezzo Magazine) response to my inquiry was that the next publication would be sent immediately and that "the rest of the 6 issues would be delivered even if it takes more than a year". To date, i have not received a single issue since i made my complaint in March nor have i received a refund.
If you're a foodie as myself, and like to keep up with the trends in the culinary industry; what good is it to subscribe to a publication that takes your money and does not deliver or delivers outdated magazines?
