this used to be a breed apart from other publishers, but no more. It seems as of jan2005, penthouse has gone to the playboy style of pictorial. I did not buy it for that. I believe that this has occured to again gain a place on the shelves of military installations around the world, but this only a guess. If this is true, we have the wonderful Tipper Gore to thank for this latest, and lamest version of the once beloved penthouse.....

The adult men magazine hierarchy (small sample), from "classy" (pictures of nude women, but a lot of "other" content that tends to be more mainstream) to "trashy" (mostly pictures of naked women, and if there are articles and the like, they tend to be focused on the less mainstream more "adult" type activity): Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler, Taboo (a Hustler product), Nugget . . .
Penthouse ("The magazine of sex, politics, and protest") tends to be less "mainstream" than Playboy ("Entertainment for Men"), but less "trashy" than Hustler. The typical Penthouse magazine contains: stories from the readers (Penthouse Forum); a small review section ("Fast Forward") which reviews alcohol, books, film, television and the like; an advice column ("mainstream" and "adult"); letters ("Feedback"); ads (tends to be more "adult" in nature than Playboy, and with a large selection of adult phone ads); articles (recall the magazines tagline: "The magazine of sex, politics, and protest"); comics; and pictures of nude women that occasionally might be someone famous (and the pictures tend to be more explicit than Playboy, though less "trashy" than Hustler (which tends to be more likely to include pictures of "waterworks" than Playboy or Penthouse)). Due to the nature of the ads, the percentage of nude women to other material is higher in Penthouse than in Playboy (discounting the ads, Penthouse still probably has a higher percentage of nude women to other material than Playboy, though less so than something like Hustler (which has a higher percentage of pictures)).
If your just looking for pictures of nude women, Penthouse is not for you, though it certainly contains a lot of pictures. The women tend to be hot, but relatively unknown.

It is a guy mag with hot women, full frontal, articles on pop culture, cars...ect
It is NOT hardcore. as some have mistakenly portrayed this publication. It is essetially just like playboy with FHM or Maxim-like articles

This magazine is soooooooo much better now. It has Gorgeous Women and new up to date articles that guys care about (sports, music, videogames, electronics, etc). Basically like Maxim except that the women are Naked!! Huge improvement from before.

I have always enjoyed this magazine and have been looking for a way to get a subscription. Amazon helped me to do just that. The product is wonderful in that it is discreet when delivered as well as the magazine itself is a great read.
