1 out of 5 stars Deeply Dissapointed   November 18, 2006

When I first heard there was an American version of L'Uomo Vouge I was really excited. I thought "finally an American men's fashion magazine that'll be edgy, risky, creative & original!" I couldn't have been more wrong. This magazine is virtually indistinguishable from lackluster Men's magazines GQ, Esquire & Details. European men's fashion magazines are works of art with cutting edge photography, bold reporting & beautiful advertising. You won't find any of this in Men's Vouge. The editors of this magazine have greatly insulted the intelligence of American readers. If I could I'd give this magazine a negative 5.

5 out of 5 stars quality   March 5, 2008

If you're sick of shock-value writing, how-to-get-a-date articles, or the crass sexuality of GQ, Details, and Esquire, then Men's Vogue is for you. Contrary to popular belief, Men's Vogue is not a fashion magazine. It has terrific articles of editorial value on culture, art, politics, and history. I find it to be ahead of it's game. Daniel Day Lewis was on the cover before his Oscar nod, and Obama was the cover feature before he decided to run for President. You won't find an actress or a supermodel in a bikini on the cover, and the fashions are worn by real men featured in the articles, not models. It's also the only magazine to have 4 African Americans on its cover in its first 12 issues. The art direction is visually sumptuous, so you won't get bored staring at a shirt on a hanger or see a 16 yr old male model wearing it. I also like that unlike Details, MVogue doesn't make the assumption that I'm either "Gay or Asian" or "Gay or a country singer."

I find Men's Vogue to be classy and substantial. It's more than what meets the eye, and just because it says "Vogue" doesn't mean it's only about fashion.

1 out of 5 stars COMPARED TO DETAILS, THIS IS HORRIBLE!!   December 18, 2007

ok so if you have read my other reviews, you can tell i am a HUGE fan of the magazine Details. I believe Vogue is not as good with interesting stories and subjects. but as i always do, i recommend you to go to a store and skim through one first IF this is your first time buying this magazine.

4 out of 5 stars Much better then GQ   October 2, 2007

I've been much happier over the last year reading Men's Vogue compared to the previous years of subscribing to GQ. They tend to cover a lot of the same things but with better articles.

5 out of 5 stars Finally a different men's mag   September 24, 2008
John Smith (Houston, TX USA)
Classy and elegant is how I'd describe this. At first, I was hesitant to even skim it at Borders for fear of being mistaken reading the mag that my GF reads. Rest assured this is a men's magazine: it has plenty of substantially in-depth and personal articles on business, politics, and consumer goods. One thing, this is loaded with advertisements - I'd say 1/2 the pages are devoted to shots of high-end clothes.

Men's Vogue is different in that it pertains more to the middle-aged crowd making six-figure plus salaries who look for articles to supplement and pique their sense of fashion and life. As a college student, I can only grasp about 10% of the lifestyle this publication shows mainly due to financial reasons as well as being the wrong demographic. Despite this, I really like this and will definitely shelve the $15 for a yr's subscription.

If you like Maxim, GQ/Details, or Stuff, stay away from this. No sports or in-your-face sexuality from gorgeous women. No articles dealing with "what do I wear on a first date?" or "which workouts give bigger shoulders?" etc. Again, the 40 year old banker who likes drinking scotch whilst listening to some jazz at the corner bar will not care for these issues because he already did it long ago. This is the same sort of man who prefers going to the upscale barber for a soothing shave, some chit-chat on current issues, and using a money clip for cash when he pays. Abstract analogy, I know, but hopefully you get my drift.
