The Greatest Magazine Following The Sport Of Kings July 19, 2006 Greg Mcgraw (Chattanooga, TN) 23 out of 80 found this review helpful
Grit and Steel is one of the greatest literary works of our time. You can literally feel the feathers and blood erupting around you as you turn page after page. The sport of kings and noblemen for thousands of years, this magazine outlines the cocks and the cocksmen that train them. Without a doubt, Grit and Steel will go down in history as one of the most useful and timely publications ever produced. [...]
Established May 1899 - Published In The Interest Of Those Devoted To The Game Fowl August 16, 2006 Fowl News (Louisiana) 15 out of 66 found this review helpful
Reviewing this magazine found a strict notification, Grit and Steel will not knowingly publish any material conflicting with the Animal Welfare Act of 1976 or any other state or federal laws, seeming to immediately calm any questions or accusations of impropriety or otherwise. The magazine contains a multitude of contributions from various writers from days long past for that historical flavor, as well as modern day contributions on breeding information, disease prevention, health information, breeder and supplier ads, and a multitude of various aspects of the care and breeding for the perpetuation of the endangered game fowl. Even information on the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ as well as the guised agenda of the anti-Christian animal rightist, may be found within the pages of this journal. All in all the publication was one with an air of comradery and sharing for the continuation of an ancient gene pool considered worthy of saving from extinction from those of a rabid vegan philosophy that would sometimes appear to just as soon consider the genocide of those who perpetuate the ancient fowl for future generations.
Better than I remember July 23, 2007 Anthony T. Guillory (Louisiana) 9 out of 27 found this review helpful
I used to subscribe to this fine magazine years ago when I raised and fought gamecocks here in Louisiana. After the passing of the legislation against cockfighting here I decided it was time to reivest some time to raise and show great American Gamefowl. This magazine was good back then but now it is even better. We need to preserve what we have or we will lose it! Thanks
Excellent Magazine, Beautiful Chickens! July 22, 2008 J. Morse I'm glad that you can still get magazines like this in America. I'm proud of Amazon for standing up for our freedoms. Amazon has taken many hits from the despicable peta/hsus groups. It takes courage to stand up against such terrorists. Keep up the good work.
